@valk_31R @joncstone @ItsNotPiss Oh absolutely solvable, I just think it speaks to some of the issues with the service not thinking enough about the actual users. As a non driver, I love that it exists, but I also wish it didn't end up being such a miserable experience for me travelling to and from work

the Tyne and Wear Metro is so good and it's completely ridiculous that every big city in the UK doesn't have its own version

@joncstone @ItsNotPiss It's only sub 10 min for a very short part of the day unfortunately, and when standing the new trains don't have enough places to hold on, so everyone ends up crammed around the doors during commuter times. On the other hand I love being able to hop on for the coast on a nice day

@ItsNotPiss can’t speak to reliability but sub-10 min frequencies with fast, modern, high capacity trains on a pretty comprehensive network should be the aim everywhere

@mindofprospect @kcoleAFC I prepare food that lasts 4 meals so dinner/lunch/dinner/lunch. Even with that I average £1.25 cost per meal. So at best people would be able to save £700 in a year which is not nothing, but also assumes your workplace actually has facilities for home made lunches.

@kcoleAFC Especially when you add up the time actually cooking it, the only way it can be cheaper is if you just bring leftovers from yesterdays dinner

I was today years old when I found out that Mark Ashton (who founded Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners) was the general secretary of the *Young Communist League* Curious that the movie (Pride) ostensibly celebrating his life did not mention this at any point. Huh. Weird. 🤔

Many forms of work would be dangerous if not for the work of trade unionists to improve protections and conditions. All sex workers are asking for is for the first step to be taken to enable them to have those protections too.

This IWD we extend our solidarity to sex workers who are demanding to be recognised as part of the labour movement and to have access to the same rights and protections that other workers have. The entire labour movement has so much to learn from how sex workers organise #IWD2026

If a foreign power wiped out 160 American schoolgirls, it would be regarded as one of the biggest traumas and crimes of the post-war US. Yet this atrocity in Iran is being treated as some unfortunate mishap. Their lives matter, and this is an abominable crime.

Four legal models exist. Only full decriminalisation removes criminal penalties and centres safety, health & constitutional rights. It’s the evidence-based approach. It’s the rights-based approach. We remain clear: #DecrimNow

🚨 Lots of people on Universal Credit are in work. Wages are just so low that even with a Universal Credit top up people still can't afford food and bills. Re-post to help us spread the message.

Today, once again, clients had more of a voice in the parliamentary chamber than workers did. Reading out the awful things some men say about women online cannot be used to undermine women’s safety

You don’t have to love your job to want to keep it and sex workers should be allowed to talk about issues with their work without it being used to introduce harmful laws.

Erasing sex workers’ consent leads to sex workers not being believed when they experience violence. This harms all women. This is also what leads to sex workers’ voices being ignored as they are seen as unreliable witnesses who don’t know their own minds

There is some very emotive language being thrown about by Nordic Model supporters about “women and girls” today. It is illegal to procure sexual services from under 18s already. It’s illegal to purchase sexual services from someone subject to force (strict liability offence)

This is the “support” that Scottish Nordic model supporters are talking about. Less than half a million pounds. How is that in any way a meaningful number? How much of it would go into sex workers hands rather than to NGOs?

Why do you think that sex workers themselves oppose the Nordic Model? If it reduced harm sex workers would support it. Some women’s group support the Nordic Model and have the best of intentions but it is not evidence based
Johann Lamont@JohannLamont

To those now expressing concern that @AshReganMSP bill might put women in prostitution at risk, do you not think all those supporting, including the police, the Lord Advocate and women’s groups which fight to keep women safe, might have thought about that? Why not listen to them?

The bill doesn’t offer support and it doesn’t improve the safety or conditions of sex workers. No laws which criminalise indoor workers will be repealed and more criminalisation will be added
Tonia Antoniazzi@ToniaAntoniazzi

As Chair of the @APPG_CSE I stand in firm support of @AshReganMSP and her crucial #Unbuyable Bill. Prostitution is violence against women - time that reality is confronted and acted upon to deter demand and offer real support to victims.

When it comes to feeding children who survived a brutal war in Gaza, every excuse falls away, every justification goes silent, and duty turns into urgent action. These children do not need skill they need a living conscience. They are not waiting for words of sympathy, but for a meal that preserves life. Your donation today is not a passing charity; it is a life saved, dignity protected, and a humanitarian message that says: Gaza is not alone. With your support, we continue. Every donation makes a difference Donation link: chuffed.org/project/160226…
