The Tea Party showed up at the townhalls of Democrats. The ACA protests in 2017 showed up at Republican townhalls. Immigration groups have protested Trump's policies for years.
It's simply not the case that the anti VietNam war movement only protested Democrats. They protested Nixon all the time.

In an era of extreme polarization, movements don’t typically cross party lines, they fight to be heard within their own political coalition. Like after 1968, street energy shifted into institutional politics after electoral and coalitional defeat. You see the growth by how many more Democrats are changing their position on Israel, primaries are being waged over this issue, and policy platforms are shifting. The protests grew into a different political stage.
