I'm bullish on Software Engineering. AI ain't a killer, it's an enabler. It enables Software Engineers to build complicated 3D engines without PHD in physics. Enables us to build Signal Processing pipelines without studying filter theory for 10 years. Techniques and tools which use to be gated and expensive can now be generated on the fly and tailored to our needs. It makes us able to build more, without having to rely or depend on domain experts, previously holders of knowledge. Now, AI flattens the level playing field. Knowledge is abundant; what used to be complex is now trivial. More digital stuff can be built - who is better suited to build stuff than Software Engineers?

Une enclave de Carhartt entre les cadavres de Caprisun et les bonbonnes d'azote Tutti Frutti, à l'intérieur c'est Berlin, à l'extérieur c'est le RER B direction Stade de France à 3h du mat' Des néons rouges. Une file d'attente de 40 minutes sous la pluie pour rentrer dans un hangar qui ressemble à l'entrepôt Conforama de Massy-Palaiseau, sauf qu'ici y'a un videur avec un bonnet et une politique de porte selective qui te donne l'impression d'avoir passé un entretien chez Google. Ton agenda de la semaine c'est littéralement le même que le type de Clermont que tu méprises, mais remasterisé en HD parisienne. Lui il va au Leclerc le samedi, toi tu fais ton marché "de producteurs" où les courgettes à 4€ pièce te donnent l'impression de participer à quelque chose d'utile. Lui il regarde Hanouna le soir, toi tu t'endors devant un docu Netflix sur le changement climatique en te disant que t'es conscientisé. Ta vie c'est un jeu en open world où t'as désactivé les quêtes principales pour faire des quêtes annexes en pensant que c'est ça, la liberté. Se pointer à un rooftop bar un mardi, screenshotter la skyline, caption "golden hour hits different up here 🌇", puis rentrer dans ton 28m² à Oberkampf pour manger des nouilles chinoises devant ton ordi parce que la fin du mois est là. Le beauf de la campagne lui, au moins, il sait qu'il est dans la matrice. Il rentre chez lui, il a sa maison, son jardin, son chien, et il te regarde toi avec ta gueule de type qui a "réussi" passer 2h30 par jour dans les transports pour 47m² de flex office climatisé où ton chef de projet envoie des Slack à 22h en mettant "pour demain mat' si vous pouvez 🙏" Et un jour, dans dix ans, t'auras 39 ans, un dos qui lâche et un livret A à 4000€. Tu regarderas autour de toi dans cet open space et tu verras des versions de toi avec cinq ans de plus qui font pareil. Même Slack. Même réunion. Même Gallia tiède le vendredi. T'auras une meuf ou un mec rencontré sur Hinge, un appart à 1400€ par mois que vous partagez pour que ça passe, et vous appellerez ça "construire quelque chose". Le gars de la campagne que tu méprisais aura fini de payer sa maison, avec ses trois gamins qui sautent sur le trampoline du jardin. Toi t'auras une collection de souvenirs Instagram et une fatigue que t'arrives pas à expliquer au psy. T'as pas raté ta vie. T'as juste acheté la mauvaise version de la liberté. Celle qu'on vend en story, en after-work et en footing chronométré au bord du canal Saint-Martin. La version où être libre c'est choisir entre Oberkampf et Ménilmontant, entre Gallia et Heineken, entre un warehouse à Aubervilliers et un rooftop à Bastille.

@ramirocanadas No that wouldn't work. Can't allocate more to people doing higher education. Being smart at something doesn't mean you're going to take decisions which are good for the country. There's a reason why we moved away from "census vote".

A cosplayer is like 150% likely to have extremely similar interests while also being a literal waifu shapeshifter. The appeal is fairly obvious imo.
