I’ve been holding this story back for a long time…
January 31st 2024… My gambling addiction was getting ugly. I placed a $200 parlay and a $100 parlay with almost nothing left in my bank account. I was exhausted…financially, mentally, spiritually.
Right before the games started, an old friend texted me: “Save your first 100k before you ever place another bet.”
I took it as a sign… but the wrong kind. I took it as proof that I was a full blown degen. I panicked. I cashed out both slips.
They BOTH hit.
And that $1.46 million I “missed” became the beginning of the darkest stretch of my life.
I didn’t start chasing money… I started chasing the version of me who almost became a millionaire. And it destroyed me.
Gambling made me isolated, hollow, ashamed… Nights I didn’t sleep… Mornings I woke up shaking. Days where the only thing louder than the losses was the silence around me.
If I hadn’t cashed out that $1.46 million, I don’t know if I would’ve survived the person I was becoming. Gambling doesn’t make you rich…it makes you forget there’s anything left worth saving.
