@Dodgypunter51 @YORYM_FLO Maybe a bracelet? Nice find.
English

I could use any pointers as to what this item is, varies from possible Roman through to Medieval? Many thanks in advance 🙏🏼

@Dodgypunter51 Very interesting. These caves are all man made unfortunately, result of mining activity in the 19th/20th Century.
English

@DetectCumbria Stunning pictures, i also love a cave! Lucky to have a couple on current land, i do believe they found prehistoric bones and human activity by a chap called Edward Widger 🤷🏽♂️☺️

@BloodNelsons Unfortunately not. In 1947 it changed again. They didnt have any silver content, just made out of cupro nickel!
English

@DetectCumbria I have a 1949 one, could it have silver
English

@BloodNelsons Coinage started to be debased in 1920 as a result of the state of the economy after WW1.
English

@DetectCumbria Nice.
When did they stop putting silver in?
English

@Wolfofsteele Very interesting, thanks Simon. Was it just the IND IMP that was removed?
English

@DetectCumbria The letters mean Georgius Rex Imperator. This style of title was removed after 1948. Thus the reign of George VI can be split into two numismatically.
English

@SunrayStarlight @SDetectorist @yorkdetectorist @MetalDetectingU Nice one. There were a few forgeries from George III era I believe, I have a bank token forgery dated 1811.
English

Up yesterday, I thought I’d found a bit of modern tat (5 New Pence) but it’s contemporary forgery posing as a GRIII Shilling probably manufactured 1816/1820 years due to a severe shortage of official silver coinage.

English

@SDetectorist Thanks. I'm taking it to the land owner next week for them to see, so I'll see what they want to do with it before I touch it!
English

@DetectCumbria It might go back. If I was doing it I would anneal it, then straighten a fraction, the repeat. The shaft should be relatively straight forward, but I always struggle with the bowls.
English

@StephenMarnick Too right! I found one last year, went to look at it the next day and found out the Mrs has binned it! Gutted.
English

@DetectCumbria 1857 Newcastle upon Tyne. Nice bit of 925 silver and remember, it's £1.94 a gram so don't throw it away :-)
English

@Dodgypunter51 Creepy, but also quite cool. If i owned a castle I'd have one, maybe not 8 though!
English

@DetectCumbria Haha 😂 you know i do find them quite eerie, why on earth would you want boar heads on walls in the main hallway 😳 creepy, also they are all from France circa 1700’s 🤷🏽♂️
English

@DetectCumbria Nice finds, silver spoon looks like it has initials on it? 😌
English

@Dodgypunter51 Did you have the feeling you were being watched?!
English

@DetectCumbria I will absolutely tag and credit you! Thank you!
I’m such a fan! Love seeing all your amazing finds!!
