Also worth noting that our 2025 first rounders (Robey, Sharp, Farrow) all expire after the 2028 season as well, but Caddy is by far the biggest threat of leaving at the moment

Next head coach is going to be a massive appointment, simply has to be the guy we believe will win us our next final. Caddy’s contract expire after the 2028 season. That essentially gives the next coach one season to convince him to stay, otherwise the heat will be on in 2028.

Personally don’t know if I love the decision to move on from Scott. No one’s turning this team around within the next 18 months and we’ve needed a rebuild for a while. However, if there were to be a positive, I’m not sure the coaching market gets a whole lot better than it is now

@spikewoofwoof @RalphyHeraldSun I’d argue it’s more important that Zak gets games. Just resigned and has played 14 games through 1 and a half seasons, we need to get games into him to develop him rather than shutting him down, it’s not like he’s a finished product

@RalphyHeraldSun Such a shortsighted view by Essendon. This season is done. There’s little point giving Johnson a chance of playing a few more games this year, at the cost of picking up another player. Using our second pick on a ruck would be handy, you would think.

Essendon still only plans to use one pick in the mid season draft. They want to give Zak Johnson (foot) a chance to come back this year and Wright is only 6-8 weeks away. But primary school teaching assistant Artemis might have to park his job. Should be playing senior AFL footy in coming weeks. Here is why 👇

@T31925156 @FlightPlanPod Probably an unpopular opinion but I’m with you on this. If it doesn’t go to a Caddy or Robert’s due to their age, I’d rather pick parish over langers or Redman, for all the flack he gets atleast his play has been good the last few weeks

@FlightPlanPod My pick would be Caddy. I think he’s so no nonsense and competitive that he would make for a good leader, especially loved the clip of him giving back to the flog supporters on Friday, clearly cares about the group. Realistically it probably will go to Redman I’d imagine

@DonsTragic @Rightfootnana Fitz i could see maybe, i think they'd be more in the frame if we didn't have pick 1 but i think that changes a bit. going with a more upside guy feels like the play currently though its not like either of those 2 are 'old' either. Griffin to me shouts Durham 2.0 as a prospect.

with the Mid Season draft only a few days away whos everyones picks at 1 for Essendon? Theres a few contenders like Jaxon Artemis, Ollie Griffin Tom Barnett, Xavier Bamert, NHH or even Sam Toner. all offer something different that we arguably need. My pick is Ollie Griffin.

Not his best game, few fumbles, but mopped up some teammates mistakes and imo lead by example on field. Also any supporters who chose to throw their scarfs at the players walking down the tunnel can fuck themselves. Fakest fans in the game, wouldn’t of been at the G last week

@JonathanJWalsh Be an element of gameplan within the positioning of the players. Also handball metres gained includes metres run after receiving a handball, (not during you didn’t know this, just for context) and all our handball receives aren’t aggressive, corridor centric, rather just an extra

One of many concerning Essendon stats: Last 3 weeks: 465 handballs for 130 metres gained Average of 0.28 metres gained per handball Highlights how we’re utilising handballs as a defensive tool rather than looking to attack utilising overlaps etc. Clear gameplan issue for me

Kayle Gerreyn almost turns it over in defensive 50 but recomposes and nails a 40 metre kick down the guts which eventuates in Huss’ 3rd goal. Nice signs from some of these kids
