So Essendon played hardball with the Hawks for the sake of one more season of Zach... a season in which they're 1-8. On what measure has it been worth it? And yet I'm absolutely certain their supporters still believe it was the right call, i.e. for the club to dig its heels in.

It’ll be interesting to see how far Gold Coast will go in the 2026 Finals series. A prelim is the benchmark. If they fall short - it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they identify Zach Merrett as their trade target. They have multiple avenues in terms of picks & players to make a trade possible, & Zach is ostensibly a great move for the Suns. Even with a lack of time on ball this season, Merrett is still averaging 27 touches a game, placing him ahead of Suns skipper Noah Anderson and John Noble (26.3). Merrett would also be the at least the 4th-5th priority to shut down, meaning he can run wild without the burden of a heavy tag. The Suns struck gold by bringing in Christian Petracca & although they’re very different players, Merrett is a gun accumulator & the foot skills to match

In light of the AFL approving Pendlebury’s record-breaking merch will all go to him & outside the salary cap, we have a good idea.
Instead of breaking the bank to re-sign Nate Caddy, the Dons should sell a ton of ‘Caddy’s 50th match’ merch, with all profits going to him

He’s putting together a solid year when most would’ve pouted & gave minimal effort.
His stats are similar to his career averages & his passion for winning hasn’t dulled.
