No matter the sport, speed is a game changer. One of the biggest myths in sports is that you’re either born fast or you’re not. The truth is, speed can be trained and improved. Build the force. Then unleash it. Team Fitz softball player Chrystal Hall (SEMO Commit) pushing hard during her lower body training session. One of our favorite training methods is pairing overcoming isometrics with explosive power movements. Overcoming isometrics train the nervous system to produce maximum force by pushing or pulling against an immovable object. Then we follow it immediately with a power movement to teach the body to apply that force fast and recruit more fast-twitch muscle fibers. This combination helps develop: • Maximum strength • Explosive power • Greater fast-twitch fiber recruitment • Improved neural drive • Better force transfer into athletic movement First build the force. Then apply it with speed. That’s how strong athletes become explosive athletes. #teamfitz #trainwithfitz

Average athletes think strength and conditioning is optional. When the schedule gets busy… it’s the first thing they cut. Elite athletes understand something different. Strength is the foundation. Strength is the insurance policy. Strength is the performance driver. In-season isn’t a time to back off. It’s a time to maintain, reinforce, and stay ahead.
