Platner needs to drop out ASAP - these are awful, credible allegations. Said on the pod after the (also credible) June NYT story that his biggest problem going forward would be credibility. It's now abundantly clear that he just hasn't been honest about his past and can't be trusted as a candidate for office. Saving grace is that the party can find a replacement by the 27th as long as he drops by the 13th, which I very much assume he will.

@Annie_Wu_22 No it's not. Y'all are trying to save face and that's not going to work. It's not like this allegation came out of thin air. Everything that's been revealed was leading up to this.

yep. this is the take👇
Adam Cochran (adamscochran.eth)@adamscochran

“I want to hear how they fucked this up” Because the two wings of the Democratic Party are so eager to play “gotcha” that they’ll pounce on bs small stories creating noise and toxically attack each other. Meaning real stories like this get suppressed as air is sucked out of the room. Hell even as this story breaks, half the talking heads are too busy saying “haha told you so” or “this is an establishment attack” rather than caring about the victim, or even the political race. In 2020 Russia invested attack ads in telling Republicans that Democrats were enemies of America and funding podcasters that stoked right wing agendas. They also ran ads telling Democrats that other Democrats were their enemy, and funding podcasts that stoked internal division. Both campaigns were remarkably effective. Only one of those campaigns does the average Dem realize. The rational response to this moment is simple: -No prior “red flag” is relevant to this claim, and it did not have the veracity of this claim, so it’s irrelevant to this discussion. -He had a lead and won the primary, it’s reasonable to support that unless there is actual evidence of wrong doing. -Now there is a very credible claim of something heinous, you drop him, replace him with someone better (lock him up) and identify gaps in your vetting process. But if the response is “haha I told you so!” while America is dealing with a Christian-nationalist takeover and a corrupt rapist president, then you’ve lost the fucking plot.

@Annie_Wu_22 Why wasn't the domestic violence accusation enough to make you change your mind? Or the nazi tattoo? Or the weird comments about raping burglars, blaming rape victims for not wearing kevlar skirts, and enjoying killing? Or all the lies? That's why we're reacting this way.

It’s okay to change your mind when presented new info. I’ll do it. I’ll admit it. We all should when needed! & given the nature of these allegations, the “we were right” reaction is weird + gross. A horrific experience a woman had… Nobody should want to be right about that.

@Annie_Wu_22 What are you admitting? You need to wrestle with why being bigoted against the marginalized, attacking rape victims, and Nazi tattoo were not dealbreakers for you. That's before we got the stories of intimate partner violence. Your value system needs o be re-examined, Annie.

@grahamformaine Why are Democrats always such weak pussies who insist on playing by the rules? The other side includes actual pedophiles and a radical cult. Compared to them, whatever you do, you're practically a saint. Go get 'em, Tiger. Finish the Damn Job

Dr Boyce Watkins - Wealth is Power
Someone should tell this poor woman that it's just as easy to say "Black people" as it is to say "Black women." Unfortunately, the Democratic Party has never had a pro-Black family agenda, so this makes sense based on her politics.
