BYU has not made a regional since 2017... before that? 2002. If 'Cougs make a regional, that regional would have to become a Thursday-Saturday regional due to school regulations of no sports on Sundays. BYU is currently sitting at 59 RPI with a 15-15 record vs Top 100. Massive series finale vs Arizona State today.

The actual concern from tonight is I’m not sure you can start Andrews over Hemric in postseason (assuming get there). He’s made 2 ACC road starts and it’s 14 ER in 3 IP, just saw what 22 did against a competent ECU lineup

NC State baseball is totally screwed. Heath Andrew’s is simply awful. Complete mismanagement by the coaching staff. OOC schedule probably keeps us out of the tournament

If I was a parent, I would never let my kid pitch for NC State. He’s 21, he throws 98 and you let him pitch 116 pitches this early in the season. It’s inexcusable, dangerous, and just wrong. I’m not surprised at all at what happened.

@KingZahyd @GoodmanHoops I dont think there’s a single head coach making 5 million a year lol. Also adults with families who have years or work experience should be making more than kids. I know it’s shocking but your boss probably makes more money than you.

Coaches making $5M to scream at 19 year olds but mad when a kid wants a slice of the pie. If the market says a bench player is worth $1M then that is the price. Coaches just mad they actually have to manage a budget now instead of just taking all the TV money for themselves. Roster building was easy when the labor was free.

One high-major head coach to me: “This has become a joke. We got guys who averaged 3 points a game asking for a million dollars. It’s completely out of control.”

The narrative that Clint Chrysler or Elliott Avent don’t take care of there pitchers is so tired. Having met those guys a couple times and knowing guys on past teams, the wellbeing of the players is their top priority and to say anything different is incorrect.

@ncstatestats The pitch counts were too high. It’s not 2004 anymore. These guys are throwing harder and putting more strain on themselves than ever before. Throwing 99 at 21 years old with the amount of spin he generated on his slider.. the pitch counts were inexcusable.

Lots of people blaming the coaches (same people who'd be mad if the bullpen blew the game). Does 95 pitches/outing change anything? Delays the inevitable w/how common TJ is. Was Dudan underutilized in his career? 128 innings compared to 184 for Marohn and Consiglio/Andrews 100+

@coop776 Oh I 100% agree with you on travel ball. Guys play way too many games before they’re even 16 years old. However 6 straight games of 100+ pitches for a first year starter is too much. It just is and the result speaks for itself.

@ForTruth1d You should focus this anger on HS and Travel ball first. Take a look at what these guys do when they are 15-17. That’s the problem. Not 116 pitches mid season in college

@ForTruth1d Haven’t hit for enough power. The SLG in conference games is 14th in the ACC, but that’s taken an uptick the last week. Ty up to 10 HR, L Nixon 2 last weekend. Also haven’t been getting much out of the DH. Plenty of room to grow

Guys this weekend is the least of the concern around Dudan. I’d still take us to win 2/3, Duke’s rotation is not great and Marohn/Coop/Andrews is still a top third ACC rotation. Pack offense due to break out.

WPN, please stop with this ridiculous narrative, it’s reckless & baseless at a minimum but also makes you look foolish when you have no idea what you’re talking about. First it’s not “early” in the season as this poster states. Pack9 plays 55 regular season games and currently sits at 22-11 (33 games which is well over half way thru the regular season). Second, Dudan made 8 starts and the pitchers get stretched to go further into games as the season goes on. By game 4 they’re turned loose to do their thing. Additionally, if anyone thinks this injury occurred because he threw 16 extra pitches in one single game they don’t know squat about baseball or UCL injuries in general. These things happen over the course of years not a game or two. At this point Tommy John surgery has sorta of become part of the occupational career path. Sadly, most MLB teams want these things to happen before they get drafted so they don’t have to deal with them. Lastly, I’ve been told personally by someone with direct knowledge to Dudan’s injury that this was not at all a direct result of our coaching staff. ✌️

@PackFanInNOVA It’s not 2005 anymore. These guys are playing more games and putting their arms through more stress than ever before. It is absolutely reckless by the coaching staff to let him throw that many pitches with his arm at that velocity.
