Since the #SDGs launched in 2015, #ChildLabor has INCREASED. We CAN #EndChildLabour if govts prioritize children's health, freedom, & education. When 1 in 4 kids under 5 worldwide are enduring severe child #FoodPoverty, we need #SocialProtection more than ever. #WDACL2024

Even as we celebrate #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour today, what strikes a jarring note is that we have failed our children. Though the Sustainable Development Goals were rolled out in 2016, child labour has increased from 152 million to 160 million. The international community cannot fulfill its commitment to eradicate child labour by 2025 until we are honest for our children. We understand the problems and we have also experienced how to solve them. What is urgently required is appropriate funding, education, social protection, and law enforcement measures.

Child-focused #SocialProtection is a vital part of ending #ChildLabour & #poverty. #India's #PMPoshan program is one of the world's biggest social protection schemes for children, providing 118 million children with school lunches every day. Our founder, @k_satyarthi, was part of the @AkshayaPatra event celebrating its 4 billionth meal, hosted at the @UN last week.
