What you’re not being told about today’s Artemis mission is that they are really going back to the moon to make sure the aliens are gone. These aliens took the lives of the Apollo 18 crew, which was documented in the Apollo 18 documentary. Scary times for space travel.

On this day in 1981, the U.S. Army unveils the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle. Modelled on the 1976 GMC 26 Palm Beach line of motorhomes, it's fully equipped with machine guns, flame throwers and rocket launchers, along with a state of the art communications and navigation suite.

@rushicrypto Short answer: Apollo was a mission to go, explore for a bit, and return. The hardware was built for just that purpose. Artemis is establishing building blocks for a permanent presence. Far more complex.

Serious question: If we were able to go to the Moon and land there in the 1960s, what makes it so difficult to do it again in 2026? Can’t we just reuse the technology from the 1960s and 1970s?

@SurvivingGrady This movie is underrated. And I think it’s just the as relevant today as it was when it was released in 1984.

There is a movie from the 80s called “Teachers” and it starred Nick Nolte and Judd Hirsch and JoBeth Williams and Ralph Macchio and Crispin Glover and it had hit songs by .38 Special and Bob Seger on the soundtrack and it was a pretty scathing satire of the public school system that seems even more relevant today and I never see it on cable or streaming services and I started wondering if I dreamed it.

@SirJeremyLondon Space is still hard and contains risks. As someone who watched Apollo 17 as a kid, I’m looking forward to seeing this mission go and pray all goes well.

Anyone who experienced the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion, like I did, is probably a bit hesitant to get too excited about the Artemis II launch today. I truly hope our children don’t have to experience such tragedy. May the Universe welcome them and return them safely home 🙏
