it’s mostly the pc itself, and a tiny bit the fact that we’re so used to audio being played SO much later to provide information in games that we’re not accustomed to react on auditory cues first in a scenario like this imo. I measured 1 digit ms end to end visual latency vs 3 digit ms end to end audio latency in cs2. Two orders of magnitude. It’s sad

You think that's mostly just system latency, headphone latency or is my auditory reaction time just terrible? Auditory reactions are supposed to be faster, but seem so much slower here

@mispercs @krascsi on evxl.app, enter your steam id, go to Voltaic S5 benchmarks and scroll down to see the rank distribution. There's around 60k people in iron+ and 3k people in master+. So master is indeed top 5% of people active in aim training, but not of all competitive gamers.

@krascsi Where do you find that statistic (master = top 5%)? just curious as i've always wondered

Pretty sure after you can get to top 5% of aim for most people learning movement and positioning (2 whole other skills than aim) becomes 1000x more valuable So if you started training for your game and that's still what you want to do, to be the best at and you got to VT Master (pretty sure that's where the threshold is with S5) and your other parts are not top 5% improving them is going to be much higher ROI You can still improve your aim and it will allow you to hit shots more frequently than what others can't even dream of but going from top 5% to top 1% in aim won't help you as much as going from top 50% to 20% in movement and positioning And ofc there's the problem of training wrong in the trainer, because if you specialize in tasks to hit top 5% once that's completely different to someone being able to just hop on hitting top 5% scores without heavy specialisations in those scenarios. But that's a topic for another day as for why transfer between aim trainers and games is not working for s TON of people.

Consider the case of asking LLMs to count characters in text with/without spaces. Latent space is a funny place.

OP1 8k vs GPX 2 click latency comparison Very rough testing since the highest speed camera i have access to is my iphone slowmotion (240fps) but I still think it's too big of a difference to be within the margin of error. (5 sample size for each mouse, all conditions identical)
