I built an entire webpage this week by talking to an AI. Not writing code. Not dragging elements. Talking. I told Claude what I wanted, it opened my Webflow Designer, created the sections, styled them, set up the CMS, and handled responsiveness. I watched it happen in real time. Things that used to take me a full day took hours. That’s not a prediction about the future. That’s what my Monday looked like. Matt Shumer wrote a post this week that everyone needs to read. He’s spent six years building an AI startup and he compared where we are right now to February 2020, right before Covid flipped everything. That phase where most people thought the panic was overblown. Then three weeks later the world changed. He said we’re in that exact phase with AI right now. And after what I’ve seen in my own work, I believe him. Here’s the short version for people who won’t read the full thing. AI models released on February 5th this year (GPT-5.3 Codex and Claude Opus 4.6) changed everything. Engineers who were going back and forth with AI a few months ago are now just describing what they want and walking away. The AI builds it, tests it, fixes it, and comes back when it’s done. Not rough drafts. Finished work. The AI labs focused on coding first because AI that writes code can help build the next version of itself. That’s done now. They’re moving on to law, finance, medicine, writing, design, everything else. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, predicts 50% of entry level white collar jobs gone within one to five years. People inside the industry think he’s being conservative. Matt’s advice, and I fully agree: pay the $20 for Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus. Use the best model available, not the default. And spend one hour a day actually using it on real work. Not asking it random questions. Real problems. Every day. If you do that for six months you’ll understand what’s coming better than 99% of people around you. The bar is on the floor right now. Almost nobody is doing this. I went from the Nigerian Navy to self-taught developer to building complex marketplace apps in Webflow. Now AI is my building partner and the gap between what it could do three months ago and what it does today is scary. Go read Matt’s full post.
