The Return of the King 1980 vs 2003 - The End of Gollum and the Ring. 🎬 Some Lord of the Rings fans only know Gollum’s fall from Peter Jackson’s film, but it’s told differently in the Return of the King book. Gollum finally takes the Ring by biting Frodo’s finger, celebrates with a victory dance, and then falls into the fire. The 1980 animated adaptation stays closer to the book, showing the moment as Tolkien wrote it. Which version do you think was better?
