@OttawaCitizen What makes the writer think we should waste tens of billions of dollars for people to return to an OFFICE (not return to work) to do the same job that can be done from anywhere (of course some must be done in the office)? Why not unlock access to top talent, too?

@dmacpher @CanadianPolling You’d expect a “polling professional” to at least understand the basics of tax before posting something like this. Not understanding inclusion rate vs tax rate 😬😬

@SjamieIt @DavidHillWard3 They park on the street so their private plows can clear their driveway. So let’s start to introduce a bylaw that private plows must fully clear side streets where they have more than one client.

@DavidHillWard3 All of those houses have a garage to keep a car inside AND a driveway to keep a 2nd car, yet people still leave their cars strewn all over the road. Ticket and tow them all.

#Barrhaven. PLEASE READ!! If your street looks like this crews will not be able to plow your road. There is a winter parking ban. You are NOT allowed to park on the street. Please ask your neighbours to move their cars into their/another driveway or to Minto Rec or Walter Baker

Pumping over $40 billion into the economy in a week can have serious negative consequences for Canada. One concern is the risk of pushing inflation even higher. Injecting such a large amount of money into the economy in a short period of time can lead to increased demand for goods and services, driving up prices and eroding the purchasing power of the currency. This can negatively impact the cost of living for Canadians, particularly those with fixed incomes. Another potential consequence is the impact on government debt. Injecting a significant amount of money can increase the national debt, which will need to be repaid through future tax increases or spending cuts. This can have long-term implications for the country's fiscal health and economic stability. In a normal government, it would be important to carefully manage such economic interventions to minimize risks and maximize benefits. This typically involves implementing measures to control inflation, ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of funds, and monitoring the overall impact on the economy. However, in the case of the current Liberal government, there are concerns about their management of economic policies. These concerns include driving up inflation, encouraging mass migration without providing sufficient infrastructure, creating a housing bubble, and allocating funds to pet charity projects while neglecting domestic needs. Additionally, there are allegations of funding activities that are controversial, such as the military-industrial complex support for the slaughter of Ukrainians and Palestinians.

What’s happening? In just one week, the Bank of Canada has pumped nearly $40 billion into Canadian banks. Banks needed cash quick. Canadians need answers. Watch this by @londonmortgage1

@sethwcunningham @nick_underhill Accidents: 42% caused by negligent drivers, 25% impaired drovers. 19% distracted driving, 12% speeding. Fatalities: 33% impairment, 16.5% no seatbelt, 20% "may be" speed (fatality risk is speed-dependent; 31 in a 30 =/= a larger fatality risk) Sources: Statistics Canada, WHO.

@nick_underhill Speeding is a major killer. Camera enforcement is much better than officer enforcement for numerous reasons. 17 speeding tickets in 4 months is reckless. I understand the frustration; nobody likes getting tickets. But it seems like you should just slow down.

Friendly reminder that the in-person attendance for today’s Montreal-Ottawa PWHL game was almost twice the max capacity of the Mullett Arena of the Arizona Coyotes. Just saying since attendance keeps coming up as a rebuttal to the excitement surrounding the PWHL. 🤷

@PWHL_Ottawa @thepwhlofficial I was looking forward to supporting the team with merch (and I will still with tickets), but $60 for a $4 gildan Tshirt that someone slapped generic letters on? Price isn’t the issue, design is. Hire a graphic designer, or run a contest for the public to design something.

If you're interested in facts, it's worth noting that our major grocers' gross profit margins over the last five years have remained relatively stagnant. See chart below. We should refrain from heeding the chorus of "record profits".

@S__VDH @DerrickSimpson_ It's basically only Alta Vista ward that makes sense - they basically border Landsdowne and might get real use out of it. MAYBE Rideau-Vanier, because they are close enough, have direct active transportation access, etc.

@CamGuthrie Provincial leaders are too busy putting resources towards NIMBYism to actually put resources towards solving critical issues. They'd rather argue over who does something than actually doing that thing.

So, this is how it’s working: 1. Reduce revenue cities can collect for needed housing infrastructure. 2. Tell cities you’ll “make them whole” a year ago. But don’t. 3. Set up a reward system for cities that meet housing targets, but is billions short. 4. Make sure that system won’t reward cities at all based on what’s under their control for those same housing starts. 5. Force cities to increase taxes, cut other needed services, incur debt and put credit ratings at risk. 6. Blame cities. 7. Get angry when Federal Government decides to give money to cities to help with housing. 8. Rinse. 9. Repeat. 10. Blame cities again. thestar.com/news/gta/doug-…
