If SpaceX did this launch celebrating the booster while barely mentioning the second stage failing to deliver the payload we wouldn’t hear the end of it But of course, double standards from the tribal mind! But congrats to Blue Origin, this was still a relatively successful mission and still a test flight IMHO

@CSI_Starbase The New Glenn literally looks more like a Falcon 9 on steroids than a fully functional Starship. Neither the capacity, nor the recovery methods, nor the damage are even remotely comparable. But we all know what you're talking about; you know exactly what you mean.

The responses to this are interesting to say the least. Half the people realize I was clearly comparing Starship to New Glenn and responded accordingly The other half are literally losing their minds and are offended by simply pointing out that I don’t believe anyone would have predicted this 2x recovery of the same New Glenn booster before 2x recovery of the same Superheavy. The class of vehicles and method of recovery are irrelevant. As fans of space exploration we have ALL repeatedly made comparisons about the progress of New Glenn and Starship development. This is no different unless you choose to make it into something it’s not. I must have missed the memo that we are no longer able to talk about them in the same sentence 😅

It's hilarious, the New Glenn (operational rocket) fails in the 2nd stage, no big deal. Starship V2 (non-operational rocket), flight 7, 2nd stage failure: they should rethink the project, major setback. xd

@StephenFleming @SciGuySpace Because of lobbying. Why not use a modified Dragon capsule? Along with Starship Lunar, or the MK2 Blue Moon? It would have cost much, much less money and possibly taken the same amount of time.

@SciGuySpace Orion isn’t perfect, but it’s sitting right there. I’m not sure if a clean sheet of paper design from BO makes sense.

I don’t think May 2 is even realistically possible to achieve. They will almost certainly bring B19 out for addition SF testing. And then multiple full stack tests on a brand new tower system that hasn’t been used yet. Final outfitting will probably happen after that (Removing all the extra sensors and what ever else). I also wouldn’t be surprised is there is another SF test on the ship, although I’m a lot less confident that will happen.

The lead SpaceX launch engineer liked this post btw, pretty much confirming it. Great guy btw, Nathan, if you’re reading this, you’re awesome! I’m hearing the NET date is May 2nd, but that is just speculation.

"No HLS hardware" guys are we fr lmao. Also like to point out there is probably an entire vehicle in production ie: S44 nosecone, landing legs and landing thrusters (whatever this thing is) and much more. Wouldn't be surprised if they give us footage during Flight 12

Our Artemis II astronauts are back on Earth, but this is just the beginning. Artemis III in 2027 will test our lunar landers and push our capabilities forward. Artemis IV in 2028 will begin the first phase of the @NASAMoonBase and establish our path to stay. We are building with purpose, moving with urgency, and keeping our promise to @POTUS. We calculated a propellant flow rate into the booster of ~700 gallons PER SECOND during peak loading on today's test. ~35 mins to load a Super Heavy booster from empty. BONKERS
