Donald Trump’s name is in the Epstein files and @JDVance has been plotting with the AG and FBI Director to cover it up Release the names! Democrats, Republicans, billionaires, or not. What are you afraid of, @JDVance?
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

JD Vance: "We know that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot connections with left-wing politicians and left-wing billionaires ... Democrat billionaires and Democrat political leaders went to Epstein island all the time. Who knows what they did."

I think today was an inflection point - maybe small, but real. The President, having launched a global trade war, feted in the Oval Office a Central American dictator who runs a mega-prison known for starvation and torture - a prison to which our government has, by its own admission, sent at least one person "in error." They disappeared a man without a single criminal charge who's lived and worked here for 15 years - who was alleged to be a member of a gang based in a state he never lived by one anonymous informant. No other evidence. No trial. No conviction. Nothing but a legal order that he not be deported to El Salvador, where he's now serving a life sentence. The Supreme Court just ruled, without any noted dissent, that the government must facilitate the man's release. But Trump and his dictator friend said no. They laughed. They mocked the journalist who asked whether they'd abide by the Court's order. The Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and the White House Deputy Chief all lied about the facts of the case. Then the President repeated his proposal to send American citizens to the dictator's prison, and asked him to build five more. The same day we found out that the government knowingly disappeared a PhD student for nothing but an op-ed, a man's 19-year old son who agents admitted was the wrong kid, and a visa-holding Russian scientist at Harvard who forgot to declare frog embryos at the border. But: it's all breaking through. It's getting more coverage. More people are paying attention. More elected Democrats are speaking up. More conservative pundits and legal scholars are speaking up. Even Joe Rogan thinks it's bullshit. Now we have to keep pushing. This is much bigger than immigration or deportation policy - this is about whether we live in a free country or a police state. It's the whole ballgame.

Rarely has so much ignorance and ahistorical BS been crammed into a single tweet. I know you and @realDonaldTrump are busy surrendering to a KGB butcher, abandoning the cause of freedom, and destroying the security of America and her allies, but you would do well, @JDVance, to spend some time actually studying history. Start here with Ronald Reagan: “Perhaps you and I have lived too long with this miracle to properly be appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people.  And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”
JD Vance@JDVance

This is moralistic garbage, which is unfortunately the rhetorical currency of the globalists because they have nothing else to say. For three years, President Trump and I have made two simple arguments: first, the war wouldn't have started if President Trump was in office; second, that neither Europe, nor the Biden administration, nor the Ukrainians had any pathway to victory. This was true three years ago, it was true two years ago, it was true last year, and it is true today. And for three years, the concerns of people who were obviously right were ignored. What is Niall's actual plan for Ukraine? Another aid package? Is he aware of the reality on the ground, of the numerical advantage of the Russians, of the depleted stock of the Europeans or their even more depleted industrial base? Instead, he quotes from a book about George HW Bush from a different historical period and a different conflict. That's another currency of these people: reliance on irrelevant history. President Trump is dealing with reality, which means dealing with facts. And here are some facts: Number one, while our Western European allies' security has benefitted greatly from the generosity of the United States, they pursue domestic policies (on migration and censorship) that offend the sensibilities of most Americans and defense policies that assume continued over-reliance. Number two, Russians have a massive numerical advantage in manpower and weapons in Ukraine, and that advantage will persist regardless of further Western aid packages. Again, the aid is *currently* flowing. Number three, the United States retains substantial leverage over both parties to the conflict. Number four, ending the conflict requires talking to the people involved in starting it and maintaining it. Number five, the conflict has placed--and continues to place--stress on tools of American statecraft, from military stockpiles to sanctions (and so much else). We believe the continued conflict is bad for Russia, bad for Ukraine, and bad for Europe. But most importantly, it is bad for the United States. Given the above facts, we must pursue peace, and we must pursue it now. President Trump ran on this, he won on this, and he is right about this. It is lazy, ahistorical nonsense to attack as "appeasement" every acknowledgment that America's interest must account for the realities of the conflict. That interest--not moralisms or historical illiteracy--will guide President Trump's policy in the weeks to come. And thank God for that.

Ben Wikler should be the next head of the DNC. That's a fighting choice. Someone who has demonstrated the kind of persistent and effective party building and infrastructure building that generates results. Dems didn't win Wisconsin this year. But it was the closest ...

🚨 BREAKING - I am objecting to the subpoena issued by Jim Jordan and the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee in its entirety. This subpoena serves no legitimate legislative purpose—making it invalid, unconstitutional, and unenforceable. It relies almost entirely on the unfounded claims of Laura Loomer, a conspiracy theorist with a documented history of lying and close ties to Donald Trump. Jordan, along with his fellow GOP committee members, would do well to heed the warnings from within their own party from Lindsey Graham and Marjorie Taylor Greene urging Republicans to stop taking orders from a known liar like Loomer. Let me be clear: the allegations against our company are entirely false and purely politically motivated. We will not be intimidated or bullied, nor will we allow this abuse of power by the House Judiciary Committee to impact our work. Our deepest thanks go out to our staff, friends, and family for their unwavering support during this time. I encourage everyone to read the letter our legal team sent to Jim Jordan earlier today, which addresses these issues and outlines our position. 👇
