Hurricanes don’t hit just Democrats or Republicans. They hit Floridians. As we enter hurricane season, I’m proud to team up with @RepDonaldsPress to share one simple message: preparation saves lives.

On July 10, 1941, the Jewish residents of Jedwabne were forced into a barn and burned alive by their own Polish neighbors during the Nazi occupation. It's a dark chapter, and one we should not run from. That's why I'm deeply troubled to see 85 years later the memorial for this atrocity being turned into a site of revisionism that dishonors the victims. That's unacceptable. I’m calling on Poland's leaders to show up for this year's commemoration and protect the site that keeps their memory alive. At a time when Holocaust denial continues to rise, we cannot let the truth of what happened get buried.

Happy 63rd birthday to the city of @CoralSpringsFL! It's the honor of a lifetime to serve this community in Congress, and a daily privilege to have one of my district offices right inside City Hall. Here's to 63 years and many more of a city that keeps getting better every year!

Two wins for @CoralSpringsFL! I’m proud to have secured $1,092,000 to modernize the city’s aging water treatment plant so families keep the safe, reliable drinking water they depend on. On top of that, we were once again able to deliver another $800,000 for the Everglades Memorial Loop, a multi-use trail that opens up safe walking and biking while connecting residents to the extraordinary landscape right in our backyard. Coral Springs is a special place, and I’m proud to keep working to build it up.

Wilton Manors is known around the world as a welcoming and inclusive community, and everyone who lives and gathers here deserves to feel safe.   That's why I secured $1,010,000 to strengthen public safety along Wilton Drive and give officials better tools to address hate crimes. No one should feel like a target because of who they are, and while I'm your representative in Congress, I'll make sure Wilton Manors stays as safe as it is welcoming.

Turkey bought Russian air defenses, cozied up to our adversaries, and antagonized our allies. Doesn’t exactly scream “reliable partner” to me. I’m not going to sit quietly while the administration hands Ankara our most advanced fighter jets. This is a slap in the face to every ally we’ve asked to trust us, and I’m not letting it slide.

The jobs of the future aren't promised to anyone. They go to those who prepare for them, and South Florida should be leading that race.   That's exactly why I secured $1,031,000 for @FloridaAtlantic’s Chip Design Hub to give students hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing. I'll always find ways to invest in our students and hometown university to keep America competitive and South Florida in the lead.

Our community deserves peace of mind that when they call 911, someone on the other end will always answer.   That's why I secured $1,031,000 for Coconut Creek to build a reliable network so police and fire dispatch stay online even during outages and emergencies.   In a situation where every second counts, we can't afford to leave first responders without a lifeline.

A railroad crossing is not just a piece of infrastructure. It connects neighborhoods, and for too long, Boca Raton has been disconnected because of the downed Jeffery Street crossing.   I was proud to fix this by delivering $2M to Boca Raton to rebuild the crossing and reconnect these neighborhoods. As Boca's partner in Washington, I'm committed to investing in the infrastructure we rely on every day.

Independence Day is a day we honor the patriots who made this country what it is. It's also a reminder that from the very beginning, freedom has never been free. The American experiment is a promise, one every American has to help keep. To the families across South Florida who celebrate with their prayers or their grills, happy 250th birthday to the greatest country in the history of the world, and here's to 250 more.

When Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, few could have imagined only years earlier that such a bill was possible. With the stroke of a pen, the end of legal segregation was written into law, moving us closer to the founding promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. The work it took to reach that moment spanned decades, if not centuries, carried by those who marched, organized, and refused to accept injustice as permanent. Progress is never guaranteed. It has to be defended in every generation. At a time when basic rights are being questioned and rolled back, this anniversary is a reminder that the freedoms we share were never given freely. They were won, and they have to be protected.

This is a promising step, but we still need @secrubio and @secwar to deploy hospital ships (not warships) to help the people of Venezuela. Hospital ships are designed to hold up to 1,000 patient beds and have dozens of fully equipped operating rooms. Details matter in emergency management. Across South Florida, countless families are grieving for the lives lost in Venezuela. The Supreme Court got this one right. For more than 150 years, birthright citizenship has been settled law that's made the United States a stronger, more welcoming place. That's a promise worth protecting. If you're born here, you belong here, and today the Court agreed.

Across South Florida, the same worry comes up again and again: housing costs too much and there’s too little of it. For too many, the American Dream feels out of reach. That’s why I backed the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act to expand supply and lower costs. And while political games might be stalling it now, I’ll always keep fighting to give families a place they can afford to call home.

Eleven years ago today, Obergefell made marriage equality the law of the land. It was a victory worth celebrating, but we can’t be complacent. At a time when these freedoms are under attack, we must protect the right to love and say in one clear voice: we will not go back.
