@johnsonj42 Being a good human starts and enforced at home. Now, this also requires the parent recognizing their “Johnny” makes mistakes and can do wrong. Without this, there is no way for a parent to enforce good human! Unfortunately too many parents are in denial.

@CoachBeede @ESProspects Aren’t most these kids at prep/boarding schools that are 19, playing as a post grad? If so then they go by first graduation year correct?

My take on the NCAA’s latest proposal 👀: We discussed this last evening. They’re looking at a 5-year eligibility clock that starts on your 19th birthday OR high school graduation (whichever comes first). No redshirts, no waivers, except for military service, religious missions, or maternity leave. This would open up more roster spots for true freshmen, change how coaches recruit & develop, and keep college sports feeling like college sports. Huge implications for high school athletes and programs! @bsblbluebook

@CoachBeede @SGuisgond Furthermore it is not/was not 4 in 4 plus one redshirt. It currently is you have one year after graduation from HS to enroll in college. Clock starts. You get 4 in 5. Traditional Redshirt doesn’t count against 4 season eligibility but does count against your five year clock.

@CoachBeede @SGuisgond Your kid did a post grad year, then went to college in MS and played 4 games. Not sure the limit but I’m assuming your kid will use 4 game year as redshirt? Therefore I believe he will still be allowed 4 years under old rule however you need to check with NCAA compliance officer.

@BarriosBurner @BluebookBeede What position does he play? If he is a pitcher it is highly unlikely he has a chance at top recruit. Middle infield or Possibly outfield with insane speed and can hit, not a problem.

This will be one of the biggest changes in @NCAA history. - 5 full seasons/5 years, no redshirts - Great for player development - Portal numbers will see a huge drop - Shifts recruiting focus back to high school players, for most schools - Freshman can be used sparingly now and it doesn’t change their eligibility - The system will be less transactional - 1 time transfer, with no sitting, is still fair for players

NCAA President Charlie Baker is pushing for the proposal to allow DI athletes five years of eligibility to be voted on as emergency legislation in May, with implementation the next month. Baker is also in support of DI having a legal tampering window like we see in the NFL.
