@AlexBores There are American patriots and then there is MAGA. There is zero overlap. All Jan 6 terrorists should be stripped of citizenship and deported. Period.

I just introduced the Anti-Insurrectionist Act in NY. It's simple: If you're a New Yorker who takes from Trump's illegal January 6th slush fund, NY will tax 100% of it.

Peter Thiel built $5 billion in his Roth IRA without paying a single dollar in tax. The Roth IRA was designed for middle class workers. Contribution limits, tax-free growth, untouchable until 59.5. Most people use it to slowly compound index funds. In 1999 Thiel dropped his $1,700 contribution into PayPal founder shares at fractions of a penny each. By 2019 that account was worth $5 billion. Every dollar of gain is legally tax free for life. Built for the middle class. Used by a billionaire to build the largest tax-free fortune in American history.

@NoLimitGains The amount of f*ckery the rich are getting away with (& have been for decades) under Trump is STAGGERING. You deduct your car or home office... & immediately an IRS letter hits your mailbox. Billionaires like Theil... they just buy a VP or POTUS, maybe a Senator. #magamerica

@BarbellFi People have Roths, brokerage accounts, crypto, real estate, collections, some will inherit money or have a pension waiting for them and so on. 401ks serve a purpose in one's overall financial/retirement outlook but they're just a piece.

This is not politics as usual. We’ve never had an openly authoritarian leader in office. Nor have we had a party totally subservient to their leader. We must resist as such during these not normal times.

@kojatowski @ManceRayder19 @JohnLeePettim13 My FIFTEEN year old is using the internet to do side hustles, mostly selling used clothing. She's not earning a living at it, but she could if she put more time into it but she is busy with school.

Ok here's my boomer story: I have a daughter 34 yrs old. She put herself thru college, has a good job with the government. Married a miner, they had 2 sons. They bought a house and later bought a cottage on a beautiful lake. They don't complain, realize life is hard but the harder they work at it the better it becomes. When I want to talk about my will she say's Dad we don't want any of it, spend it all on yourself, you've worked hard for it, enjoy it. You see if you raise them right, give them a strong work ethic they need nothing from their boomer father. It's then you know you've done your job right.

@JaredRyanSears Cherry-picking one point..."About half of Americans could not cover a $1,000 emergency without taking on debt due to a lack of savings." And? I mean, at some point accountability has to be laid at the feet of the able-bodied 42 year old that hasn't managed to save $1000.

I don't understand how anyone is confused about why consumer sentiment is at record lows or thinks it is just "vibes". 🔸Half of all full-time workers are not paid a livable wage. 🔸There are more unemployed people than job openings, so there are no better-paying jobs for people to move into. 🔸Inflation is rising faster than wages, meaning people are falling further behind. 🔸About half of Americans could not cover a $1,000 emergency without taking on debt due to a lack of savings. 🔸So it should be no surprise that credit card debt is at record highs as people do take on more debt to survive. 🔸27 million lack health insurance, a number that will increase by millions more now that subsidies have ended. 🔸There is a looming fear that AI is going to take many of the jobs, and no one is talking about how to manage that. 🔸For more traditional economic numbers: GDP growth is low, the national debt is so high that the public owns more debt than the entire value the US creates each year (something not seen since WWII), job growth has been almost non-existent, and blue-collar jobs have been lost Sure, stock markets are doing well, but they aren't the economy—the top 1% own half of all the wealth invested in stocks and mutual funds. The bottom 50% owns just 1%. Every day, hard-working Americans don't care that the stock market is up when they aren't paid a wage that covers expenses and have no opportunity to improve their position in life. Not only should there be no confusion on why people feel the economy is bad, but we should also be asking why anyone is pretending it is good.

Now instead of making an example about you that’s wrong and makes you sound stupid, use the example for the ultra wealthy. The wealthy do not have income and their wealth, and functionally unlimited money, comes from stock to get around income taxes. They have outsized political political power and contribute next to nothing percentage wise. So, tax the rich and make society better.

This is where the “tax the rich” crowd lose me. Say I earn 90k a year and in 2027 I inherit $200,000 I invest that $200k and after 10 years in the stock market it’s now worth $400k If I sell it and realise the $200k capital gain, what the govt and the “tax the rich” crowd are saying is that I should be taxed as if I make $290k every year. Now if I try and split that CGT income across 2 people I’m “greedy” and avoiding tax But if I sell down in 4x $100k lots over 4 years and minimise my tax, that’s ok and nobody bats an eyelid - but it’s the same principle.

@colin_gladman These types of posts always come off as smarmy. "You rich snobs with your stocks and your fancy investing apps" as if this isn't something available to anyone. The guy that goes home every night and plays three hours of GTA could be learning how to invest, you know. It's free.

Y’all have to understand 50% of all households own ZERO stock or have retirement accounts. I talk to “everyday” people all the time absolutely getting crushed right now. The stock market is NOT the economy. A very large majority of this country and world don’t care about a memory shortage or how many GPU’s $NVDA can sell. They care if they can put a roof over their head and groceries on the table. And most are struggling to do that. Make sure you look outside the glass house every now and then.

The evidence of a systemic problem is that about 2,000 people die in encounters with police every year. If that number was 50, it would still be a problem but much less severe. What exactly is the point of looking at a small subset of the 2,000 and asking if that subset is itself a systemic problem? It's just a tactic meant to make it look smaller because the number is smaller.

We'll end up talking around each other, as you clearly have your teeth sunk into the "living wage" stuff. Graduate college, do your best to get a job- any job. Live at home for a few years and then rent an apartment with roommates. Pick up a side hustle to get you off the couch on nights or weekends. Tell your buddies you can go on one trip a year - not 5. Limit the DoorDash to once a week. Go out once a weekend. Stop comparing your life to people on IG flashing their DraftKings winnings or new car. The kids will be OK.

@ManceRayder19 @grok @axe609 @WallStreetApes A few things. You don't know his actual SS payment amount. That's just the average. Second, $1200/month is $14,400/year not $12,000. Third, utilities can easily be $100/month in LA. Have some respect for disabled vets, you stupid penny stock cunt!

79 year old Vietnam veteran who has lived in the same 2 bedroom home in Long Beach for 46 years is being evicted after his land lord died He’s living on disability and Social Security. He also mows some lawns for income He’s been paying a discounted rent of $1,200 per month but rent in the area starts are about $2,500. He can’t afford that His previous landlord was a woman named Karla Bartley, she was 91. She lived nearby and was generous with discounted rents for many tenants Her estate is selling the property so everyone there was served with eviction notices I was able to find her has a GoFundMe GoFundMe is named “Help Dennis Find a New Home After Eviction.” It has raised about $2,425 toward a $60,000 goal for moving costs and new housing deposit We shouldn’t let veterans fall through the cracks but man they moving cost of $60,000 seems crazy A mover is only a couple thousand bucks and a deposit is only about a thousand bucks… maybe it’s for the increase in monthly rent for the coming years I wasn’t able to find any reports of permanent housing found for him as of today
