@alt_w_v_g When offered warranties like this, I usually do some quick mental math and decide that if I took a warranty on every available purchase, I’d be many tons of thousands of dollars in the hole. Self ensuring is usually the best option.

They're covering it." She said "how" I said "I read the policy" She said "all 129 pages" I said "the exclusions section starts on page 47. The coverage section ends on page 34. There are 13 pages between them where they hoped nobody would look." She looked at me Then she said "you're unbelievable" I said "I just saved us $744 a year and got a free dishwasher repair. Much of what we do in the GA is non partisan. Here’s a perfect example of legislature that benefits the people of Rhode Island, without the divisiveness of national debate. This is where the House should live.

I have spoken with a few local police officers off the record on this-- and they say that when they ID homeless people, the absolute majority of them are from out of state. Further, I’m told that although they remain houseless, they do receive cash subsidies from our state, and assumably, that’s the reason they’re here. I have also been told that these numbers have exploded since 2020. Our public health efforts are not addressing this problem in any meaningful way-- increasing spending in our state budget is not the answer-- we need root cause analysis and boots on the ground intervention.

@PFNeronha @ferllyr AG, you're NOT wrong. I have the pulse on this problem and the answer is pretty straightforward: 1) eliminate unreimbursed, red tape, bureaucratic barriers mandated by insurers. 2) find ways to increase revenue in independent primary care offices. Let's chat.

@ferllyr Well in that sense I agree. It is the absence of doctors. My wife is a primary care doctor. So is my son in Chicago. She’s nearly done. And he’s not coming home. We treat them like hell and underpay them. It’s as simple as that.

How dumb is this. Doctors are the problem? Ship Vic isn’t going to reach the harbor I’m afraid.

I can get behind this: our entire South County shore has been taken up by New Yorkers and other out-of-state property owners. They don’t contribute to our economy in a meaningful way, and it’s likely they don’t even pay income tax here. I have literally no problem with a discouragment tax rate on this real estate. I would love to see a return to a time when Rhode Islanders could retire by our bay, without having to compete with out-of-state purchasers. Additionally, seeing all those beautiful homes lay empty 10 months out of the year is just such a wasteful, sad sight.

I have no problem with a millionaires tax based on non-owner occupied non-real estate capital gains and other earned income, provided that it is a progressive and not a flat tax. I also believe that we should raise the threshold of exemptions from the estate tax. FWIW

Rhode Island take note. Our insane version of this law was passed only two years later.

There are so many books on (1) Islam as a political system and also on (2) Islamic extremism as a religion. These books are lived experience, written by Muslims, not by outside observers. I cannot understand why people remain ignorant to the value in learning through books instead of soundbites. I read across all cultures, and history. This shapes my worldview with substantiated thought, not parroted opinions. It also helps me call out BS when I see it.

But the ACA bans physician owned hospitals? I think we can all see the problem now @DutchRojas HC subsidies are not the way!

@NYHammond @drsharisse I don’t know a single doctor driving a Maserati in my home state of Rhode Island. Not one. And I know a lot of doctors. They are closing practices left and right because they cannot afford to stay in business.

There are companies who specialize in using "independent dispute resolution" to maximize insurance payouts for doctors. Gov. Hochul wants to block them from exploiting this process to squeeze money from Medicaid. Here is one of company's Instagram posts:
