Once and Future Church

Yesterday, Russia killed 11 Christians while blowing up a historic church. Not a single member of Podcastistan, who have repeatedly claimed to care deeply about such things, has denounced it. Weird, right?

@ItsRobbAllen @BeefCakeJake42 I was raised Episcopal and my wife was raised Methodist. We are at a Catholic Church and there is very little political nonsense from any sides, just reverent worship of the Trinity.

Yesterday sucked. It was my last day at my church of 20 years. I played in the praise band for over 12 of those years. I enjoyed doing so because it was how I got to use my talents to serve God. But the sermon *literally* was about AI datacenters using all our water, mass animal farming, and how environmental racism was causing disproportionate harm to minorities. I'll miss playing, but the UMC is completely lost.

According to a recent Pew study, US churchgoers say that Israel is nearly *the most* frequently discussed political topic from the pulpit. Among both Protestants and Catholics, that discussion is significantly more likely to be in support of Israel. Church, we have a problem.

The Iran deal is a bad one for America. But one thing can now be said: Israel surely does not control America.

I believe America will become orthodox. And I also believe that the ones who will stop at nothing to keep that from happening are other “christians.” I predict it will get ugly.

@jeff_of_norwich Muslims are a people of the "Book" Christ is the Word. Jesus didn't bring the Bible, he brought the Church. "Bible-believing Christian" is a new phrase created out of ignorant anti-Catholic sentiment because people don't understand Christianity.

As a Muslim, there's something that genuinely bothers me. Millions of Muslims live in Christian majority countries, build mosques, preach Islam publicly, distribute Qur'ans, open halal businesses, and demand religious freedom,and rightly so. Some even call for aspects of Shariah to be accommodated in the societies they've moved to. Yet in some Muslim majority countries, Christians cannot openly preach the Gospel, build churches freely, or practice their faith without restrictions. Why? If we demand religious freedom for ourselves, we should be willing to grant it to others. Truth does not need censorship. If Islam is the truth, it has nothing to fear from a church, a Bible, or a Christian preacher. You can't demand tolerance and freedom for Muslims abroad while denying the same freedoms to others at home. The double standard needs to be called out.
