Unfortunately, investing $200/month isn’t nearly enough. After 10 years following this plan, you’d only have $39,000. Investing $1,000/month? You’ll have $194,000 after 10 years. This is assuming a 9% annual growth rate.

@OptionsBrit Very good advice. I will definitely be selling some of my losers in my investing accounts to reduce my capital gains liability and to raise funds for my ISA for the next tax year.

Most investors are sitting on losses right now and doing nothing about them. That's a mistake. 🇬🇧 If you hold losing positions outside your ISA, you can crystallise that loss before 5 April. That loss then offsets any capital gains you've made this tax year. Lower gains. Lower CGT. Legal. Simple. It's called capital loss harvesting. Most retail investors let these losses expire worthless every year without using them. How it works: 1. Identify losing positions held outside your ISA 2. Sell before 5 April to crystallise the loss 3. The loss offsets your gains, reducing your CGT bill 4. (Optional) Immediately rebuy inside your ISA via bed and ISA 5. Future gains now sheltered tax-free The taxman wins by default if you do nothing. 10 days left. Don't let losses go to waste. ⏳🇬🇧 Not financial advice — speak to an accountant before acting. @MartinSLewis #UKInvesting #ISA #TaxYearEnd #CGT #PersonalFinance #MartinLewis

There’s two kinds of traders. The one that is able to walk away and the one that revenge trades. Overtrading kills more accounts than anything else. I used to be this way, getting angry that price wasn’t going my way and pushing the button again and again until I blew up all my accounts. It takes a lot of inner work, but believe me it’s worth it to work on not just your strategy and executions, but your mental game as well. Being able to walk away from the screen before it’s too late is a real skill set to work on. Don’t be the guy that revenge trades. Strategies that worked for me: 1. Writing down my game plan at the start of the morning. As long as I followed my plan, it’s a win. 2. Having pictures of family on my trading desk. Trading for others and not just yourself is important, it keeps you grounded. 3. Having alarms go off on my phone at the end of the session to bring me back to reality and remind me to walk away.

A "paper cut" in trading refers to taking small, controlled losses to prevent them from growing into large, portfolio-damaging losses how the cuts actually feel:

Net flows between SPX and SPY are in agreement today and in a bigly bullish tilt. I'm also seeing a lot of put selling again today on the options flow. Odds are increasing today that next week produces a ST relief rally.

Everyone is arguing about whether AI will crash the market. Meanwhile some people are quietly using it to find better entry points, manage positions, and research faster. The debate is a distraction.

$SOFI I’m actually thankful SoFi didn’t get added to the S&P a couple of weeks ago. In this market, I genuinely don’t think we would’ve seen much of a pump even if it had. If anything, it likely would’ve been muted. If we get added in Q3 or Q4, the market should have had time to stabilise. That’s when we can hopefully see a real move. Something in the 20–25% range.

My 4 year old son’s $1,555 UTMA account will turn into around $300,000 by the time he’s 59 assuming an average of a 10% return. It should end up being much larger with more contributions over the years

Today is Quad Witching Day. If you're seeing unusual volume and wild price swings, this is why. Quad witching happens four times a year (third Friday of March, June, September, and December) when four types of contracts all expire on the same day: 1. Stock index futures 2. Stock index options 3. Single stock options 4. Single stock futures Trillions of dollars in contracts expire simultaneously. Market makers, hedge funds, and institutions are all forced to roll, close, or settle their positions at the same time. What this means for you: - Volume spikes significantly, especially in the last hour of trading - Price swings can be exaggerated and misleading - Moves in either direction may not reflect real sentiment - It's one of the highest volume trading days of the year If you're a long-term investor, this changes nothing about your thesis. If you're trading short-term options, be aware that today's price action may not mean what you think it means. Don't let one day of noise shake you out of a position you spent months building conviction in. $SPY $QQQ
