Hate to be that guy, but I really don't like it that many parishes (including my local) don't offer confession during the Easter Triduum, when most parishes do, and it's probably one of the most likely times someone would want to sort out their relationship with God

An interesting brief treatment of addiction in Roger Scruton’s book Beauty. Too much discussion of this subject today overemphasizes neurochemistry. That is of course important, but it addresses only what Aristotelians would call the material and efficient causes of habituation, and not the formal and final causes. Human beings are by nature rational social animals, and as Scruton’s discussion indicates, addiction involves disorders related to both aspects of our nature. Pleasure exists in us largely to bond us to other human beings. This is obviously true where sex is concerned, but it is even true to a large extent where the pleasures of food and drink are concerned. In human beings, food and drink are typically (even if not always) taken in the context of a meal, which is a social event which reinforces bonds of family and friendship. Addiction where sex, food, and drink are concerned is in large part a result of separating the pleasure associated with these things from the social context and making of it a kind of private entertainment, where it can be sought and gratified in a way that bears no connection to others. As rational animals, we can also understand the ends for which pleasures exist, and follow rules (of morality, etiquette, and the like) that facilitate the realization of these ends. Because the desire for pleasure is strong in us when we are young but reason is also weaker in us at that time, we initially have to become habituated to these rules by way of parental instruction and social pressure. When such social norms are weak, and where pleasure is misunderstood as something purely bodily and animal without any essential connection to our social and rational nature – and both these circumstances obtain today – then the pursuit of pleasure is bound to become disordered, and addictions of various kinds more widespread.

I know we are not the same because when I see a British person acting like a fool on here in a foreign country I feel huge guilt. Pakistanis have raped 100,000s of thousands girls here. Even the non-guilty feel nothing and resent you for wanting them gone. They have zero empathy

"Dear Mother, I am writing these few lines severely wounded. We have done well, our battalion advanced about 3/4's of a mile. I am laid in a shell hole, with 2 wounds in my hip and through my back. I cannot move or crawl at all. I have been here for 24 hours and never seen a living soul. I hope you will receive these few lines as I don't expect anyone will come to take me away. But you know I have done my duty our here now for 1 year and 8 months and you will always have the consolation that I died quite happy doing my duty. You must give my best to all the cousins who have been so kind to me for the time I have been out here, and the best of love to Mother and Harry and all at Swinefleet." - A note from Private John Duesbury that was found on his body after the Battle of the Somme (WW1). What a waste.

We’ve had the most welcoming immigration system for six years. It has inflicted one of the most profound, avoidable injustices on the British people in centuries. If it is not reversed, this will be felt for generations to come. There is no room for a “more welcoming tone.”

German women don’t want to be raped by rapey third worlders basically.
Rolf Degen@DegenRolf

Male refugees from Afghanistan and Syria in Germany show a keen interest in forming relationships with local women, but the local women show little interest in forming relationships with them. Germany, in particular, received over 1,4 million refugees between 2014 and 2016, predominantly from Muslim-majority countries such as Syria and Afghanistan. The majority of these arrivals consisted of young, single men within prime marriageable age brackets. This study examines partnership preferences of male refugees from Afghanistan and Syria who arrived in Germany between 2014 and 2016 and female residents of similar age. Overall, our results indicate a high level of openness among male refugees towards partnering with female members of the resident population, but a comparatively low level of openness among the latter towards partnering with recently arrived male refugees. This implies a substantial incongruence in partnership preferences among the two groups. Regarding the educational level of a potential partner, we found that all respondents prefer highly educated partners over those with lower levels of education. This suggests that, for refugees, securing a highly educated partner might serve as a means of upward social mobility and integration into higher-status networks in the host society. Furthermore, it is possible that highly educated women, due to their greater exposure to diverse social environments and potentially less discriminatory attitudes, are perceived as more open to intergroup partnerships, making them a more attractive choice for refugees seeking acceptance and social integration. On the other hand, the reluctance of resident women to accept partnerships with refugees is largely explained by their rejection of the ‘imported’ religious Islam. It is possible that resident women perceive the religious practices of newly arrived refugees as different from their own, reinforcing a social distance that limits intergroup partnerships. Moreover, this reluctance might not only reflect religious differences but also concerns about gender norms or perceived lifestyle incompatibilities.

On this episode of “Saturday Ecumenism” we are going to be posting the text of “Regnans In Excelsis” whereby Pope Saint Pius V Excommunicated Elizabeth I of England. Regnans in Excelsis Excommunicating Elizabeth I of England Pope Pius V - 1570 1. In obedience to which duty, we (who by God’s goodness are called to the aforesaid government of the Church) spare no pains and labour with all our might that unity and the Catholic religion (which their Author, for the trial of His children’s faith and our correction, has suffered to be afflicted with such great troubles) may be preserved entire. But the number of the ungodly has so much grown in power that there is no place left in the world which they have not tried to corrupt with their most wicked doctrines; and among others, Elizabeth, the pretended queen of England and the servant of crime, has assisted in this, with whom as in a sanctuary the most pernicious of all have found refuge. This very woman, having seized the crown and monstrously usurped the place of supreme head of the Church in all England to gather with the chief authority and jurisdiction belonging to it, has once again reduced this same kingdom- which had already been restored to the Catholic faith and to good fruits- to a miserable ruin. 2. Prohibiting with a strong hand the use of the true religion, which after its earlier overthrow by Henry VIII (a deserter therefrom) Mary, the lawful queen of famous memory, had with the help of this See restored, she has followed and embraced the errors of the heretics. She has removed the royal Council, composed of the nobility of England, and has filled it with obscure men, being heretics; oppressed the followers of the Catholic faith; instituted false preachers and ministers of impiety; abolished the sacrifice of the mass, prayers, fasts, choice of meats, celibacy, and Catholic ceremonies; and has ordered that books of manifestly heretical content be propounded to the whole realm and that impious rites and institutions after the rule of Calvin, entertained and observed by herself, be also observed by her subjects. She has dared to eject bishops, rectors of churches and other Catholic priests from their churches and benefices, to bestow these and other things ecclesiastical upon heretics, and to determine spiritual causes; has forbidden the prelates, clergy and people to acknowledge the Church of Rome or obey its precepts and canonical sanctions; has forced most of them to come to terms with her wicked laws, to abjure the authority and obedience of the pope of Rome, and to accept her, on oath, as their only lady in matters temporal and spiritual; has imposed penalties and punishments on those who would not agree to this and has exacted then of those who persevered in the unity of the faith and the aforesaid obedience; has thrown the Catholic prelates and parsons into prison where many, worn out by long languishing and sorrow, have miserably ended their lives. All these matter and manifest and notorious among all the nations; they are so well proven by the weighty witness of many men that there remains no place for excuse, defense or evasion.”

Trappist monks kept medieval Europe alive and nobody gave them credit for it During plague years, wells killed you, but beer couldn't The fermentation process eliminated the bacteria that made water lethal The monks had no germ theory, just one observation repeated across generations: beer was safe, water wasn't So they brewed it at scale for everyone Every craft brewery alive today is the secular heir to monks who kept plague-era Europe drinking

Whosoever shall shed man's blood, his blood shall be shed: for man was made to the image of God. Genesis 9:6. I’m confident that the disgusting people who raped Noelia and conspired to murder her will one day hang from a pole or take a bullet. I only hope I’m there to see it.

It’s over. A beautiful young girl was taken from her parents, gang-raped by migrants, traumatised so badly she tried to kill herself, and left paraplegic. And now, the Spanish state has killed her to harvest her organs. Rest in peace, Noelia. You deserved so much better.
