I have had multiple former Penn State coaches tell me they believe Drew Allar’s biggest issues are between the ears. Some have even admitted the system held him back, but they still feel his problems were mental and that will hold him back in the NFL if not addressed.

@AustinRBechtold He definitely has the physical attributes. Anyone saying otherwise doesn’t know ball but it’s his mental make up that concerns me a lot. What he is lacking isn’t coachable. The fact that he struggled against teams with NFL caliber defensive players concerns me. I hope I’m wrong

@NoahStrackbein I think they need to bring Tomlin back and let him make the decisions. Every pick this year except for like 2 felt like a reach and an overdraft. Omar first draft without Tomlin and it doesn’t seem to good but we’ll see in about 2-3 years from now

Allar has his warts. Mainly his mechanics are bad. Allar though has a beyond talented arm and can sling it. Good mobility and would’ve been a 1st round pick if he entered last year. I’m not saying he’s the franchise guy. But he should be prioritized more then Howard

Drew Allar has all the tools to be a good QB. But he was 0-6 against top-6 teams in college and was as unclutch and unreliable in big moments as any QB I've ever seen. He has none of the intangibles to be a good NFL QB. If anything, he's a project -- and that's not good enough.

I’m not the biggest Drew Allar fan. His film is inconsistent & especially against higher end talented defenses. I’m not going to say it was a wasted pick, the potential is there, the flashes of his raw talent is there. Mike McCarthy blew the #Steelers out of the water when it came to QB development, so he has two young QBs to choice from & if he can make one the franchise guy - then #SteelerNation is back in business. Will be an interesting offseason in the QB room.
