@FBallAnalysisYT Not a single player within the top 100 consensus wise…

Cameron Latu still does not have his first career NFL reception
Gridiron Grading@GridironGrading
The 49ers 2023 class is the lowest graded of the 224 classes in our database. Didn’t even remotely give themselves a chance. When people say that drafting near the consensus doesn’t actually matter, just show them this class.
English

@FishKnowsBall Makes sense though on why they didn’t wanna give up their thirds they were hoarding those things. IMO would’ve rather given one up for idk a reciever in the first round that was falling to you… but it is what it is.
English

@FishKnowsBall Nah, it’s Rudolph’s time!!! Tank commander lead us to victory!
English

@Steelersdepot @Alex_Kozora That’s usually what happens when new staff comes in they want to get their guys which usually results in not a lot of comp picks the first year or two…
English

@Mazursky8895 He was their 3rd pick not their 4th round pick. Other than that I agree with your take.
English

The team seems to have fixed their offensive line entirely and Bernard will have an immediate impact. That's mostly it.
There are solid role players like Nowakowski, Wetjen, Everette, and perhaps Heidenreich.
Outside of that, a few reaches and head scratching positions taken over others. Still concerned about ILB and WR depth. Underwhelmed but think the class can pan out.

@FishKnowsBall Josh Allen is Patrick Mahomes… (I think you know where I’m going with this)
English

@NFL_DovKleiman Tbf they called him when Dallas was on the clock and before Philly traded for him so I think it’s a bit of a grey area.
English

@SCityNATION412 Warren and Dowdle are locks, Kaleb and Eli battle it out for RB3
English

@JN_Steve_ I agree but him saying it was recent playoff success is an understatement it’s been years of lacking playoff success…
English

What a legend to even admit this. Could see most coaches being too egotistical to even say this. #Steelers
Alex Kozora@Alex_Kozora
More from Mike Tomlin, citing a lack of recent playoff success as 1 reason why he resigned from coaching. "There’s just some veteran players there...that I thought just were worthy of the excitement and the optimism associated with new leadership.” steelersdepot.com/2026/04/mike-t…
English

@Hoobito97 @MinkahBurgh39 I also think that’s Roman just need competition, when we betted it all on him last year it all fell apart… also this is a new coaching staff so we don’t know how high they are on the kid
English

@MinkahBurgh39 Roman can be good but I think he gets beat out for WR4 by Heidenreich whom I think will be more of a WR for the Steelers.
English

@MinkahBurgh39 I agree I just don’t like betting it on him being the 4 would rather they bring in competition for him to beat out… he failed badly at being our 3 last year…
English

@jack_sperry Exactly, I think that’s also what ppl need to understand with this pick they had the luxury to use a third rounder to make sure they got their guy since they had two other third rounders. This is also why they likely refused to move their third rounders at all.

What has me excited about Drew Allar being drafted by the Steelers is he now has a chance to the get the Patrick Mahomes treatment here in Pittsburgh, assuming Rodgers is back for another season, which it sounds like he will be.
The Steelers are trying to apply the lessons from the success KC had in finding & developing Mahomes and are using that blueprint to try and find their next franchise QB.
Incredibly talented but raw QB coming out with star-level upside gets the opportunity to be coached up by an offensive minded head coach from a west coast offense background with a specialty in developing QB talent & sitting behind a veteran for a year before inheriting a playoff-caliber roster. It was the perfect setup for Pat, and I think it’s the perfect setup for Drew as well.
Even better, PIT didn’t need to invest nearly as much in Drew from a draft capital standpoint as KC did in Pat; they get all that upside for just a 3rd round selection.
And people always forget the Chiefs were heavily criticized at the time for making that decision as well, for pretty much the same reasons people don’t like the Allar pick here in Pittsburgh (bad footwork, not accurate enough, not enough team success in college, etc)
If there’s even a 20% chance Drew could be the next great franchise QB here in Pittsburgh (and with this setup I think the odds are at least that high), that pick was absolutely worth the investment, especially given the fact that this team didn’t have a legitimate long-term plan at QB on the roster (sorry Will Howard fans), and now they have one!
It’s also worth mentioning that the Steelers need to compete with QBs like Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Maye, Lawrence, and Herbert, and that’s just in the AFC. If you want to consistently compete with those guys & those teams, you gotta try to find a QB that can feasibly reach that level of upside, and Allar certainly fits that bill with his insane arm talent if he takes well to NFL coaching & development.
Just like drafting any other ‘boom or bust’ type of QB prospect, there’s definitely a chance Drew ends up never being a good NFL QB, but with three 3rd rounds pics, this was a luxury pick for Pittsburgh, and when you pair his level of upside with the ideal setup for development plus the relatively low opportunity cost for a guy that could be the next face of Steeler football, you get the potential for this to be one of the greatest picks in the history of the franchise.
Now…we can only hope Drew takes this incredible opportunity and runs with it just like Patrick did in KC. It sure worked out well for them; I’m hoping the Steelers are successful in recreating even a fraction of that success with Drew in the years to come.

@Steelers_DB Decent, B. Tackle position hopefully solved, Bernard is a great reciever 3/2, Allar fan(obviously odds he works out are low tho), like Everette & Dunkan. Like Wetjen but reached, Rubio is a miss imo, like both our 7th round picks. Think overall all but one of this picks is great!
English

@SteelersDraftt Thoughts on signing a reviver like Jennings as a WR4 if Roman doesn’t take a step up?

Post NFL Draft #Steelers Take-Aways:
- The Steelers projected QB Room features potentially Aaron Rodgers, Will Howard, Mason Rudolph, and now Drew Allar. If Rodgers returns, could we see Mason Rudolph be either traded or released?
- Eli Heidenreich vs Kaleb Johnson for RB3 is something to watch, and if it ends up in Heidenreich's favor, what happens with the former 3rd rounder Kaleb Johnson?
- The receiver room still lacks depth outside of DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman, and now Germie Bernard. Roman Wilson still has the chance to carve out a role in Mike McCarthys offense but it's still concerning moving forward...
- Much like receiver, the linebacker position remains thin with a room featuring only Patrick Queen, Payton Wilson, Cole Holcomb, and Malik Harrison. This was the one area of need Pittsburgh failed to address over the last three days...
- I love the outlook for Pittsburgh's O-Line, there is plenty of depth up and down the line with a lot of versatility, I'm really intrigued on how this will all shape out.

@FBallAnalysisYT B for me on the Steelers interested to see your opinion.
