@KennethLPearce Do you think Avicenna or Averroes had bigger influence on Aquinas?

@tenshi_anna Somebody borrowed me this book; and I read a bit and then got bored, felt I understood it etc. But I should read more and try to be more charitable and rigorous. Thanks!

Divine alterity is primary, divine indwelling is secondary. Transgressing this hierarchy is categorically disastrous and the fundamental form of what is called “the idol.”

@timmodryoid Well I am not sure how much there has to be a unity above the differences in Christianity, even Islam. I think at the highest level unity + difference become merged and transcended. But on lower level the differences do exist IN a unity, and the unity can be expressed distinctly.

@Quididityorange For Platonic Polytheists like me, you don't need monotheism to have the absoluteness of divinity. The Principle of Unity is concrete as each Unit, and is not a unity "above" them. Each Unit qua Unit is absolute.

Edward's explanation of why he prefers the term "polytheist" just reminds me of why I adopted the term from him. I'm still a bit uncomfortable telling people about it when they ask, but less so these days. There really is no better word that describes my religious commitments.

@timmodryoid Also with monotheism you get an idea of the absoluteness of divinity, and it makes sense to predicate of that absoluteness a universality I think.

@timmodryoid I used to be poly back in the day; not sure exactly how or why I moved to mono. Isn’t unity a positive predicate, both desirable, and something we actually see evidence for, and therefore why not predicate divine unity and say the differences are internal to that?

@timothy_stanley I liked how King Charles said pilgrimage is especially relevant to the modern world in his last Christmas message. We are so lucky to have him; and it’s sad no-one realises.

@johnmilbank3 I may buy one of Corbin’s books. I think studying Islamic medieval philosophy/theology/mysticism can be a good way of avoiding the two extremes of closed minded particularism and a superficial universalism.

Wholesome prediction market in which people guess which day sees the first snowdrop, daffodil and crocus, and no money changes hands, you just get a little chuckle and a pat on the back. The alternatives all tend towards necrofinance.

@tenshi_anna @the_Theurgist @matt_mazza14 @grok @FeelsGuy2003 That’s interesting. I have been thinking about the difference between generic philosophic thrinity + the Christian one; your differentiation makes sense; in that the later imbibes this absolute distinction within the persons; and I suppose resolves, or redeems, it also.

The real question is how the Trinity is distinguished from trigrammatical structure. A trigram is a univocal tensing that suspends its reference to analogical differentiation as a procedure of grounding in the real. I am convinced that all pagan triads are essentially trigrammatic tensing of a univocal cosmic field, and lack any genuine analogical grammar of holding forth in the nothingness of creation under the absolute will and authority of God the Creator. Paganism (including ALL pre-Christian metaphysics, in my book) and Christianity just have an insurmountable differend, absent genuine confessio and conversion.

Both Thiel and Bannon support a book called “In the Closet of the Vatican”, a slanderous work written by gay activist and secularist Frédéric Martel. The book has been torn to shreds a dozen times over, but it doesn’t stop anti Catholic figures from using it as a demoralization tool to prevent people from becoming Catholic.

The Trad™️ movement has always been the long arm of the Synagogue. One only needs to look at Thiel and Bannon’s involvement in the scene to understand it’s a jewish assault on the Papal Monarchy.

@ElijahForCA Narmer destroyed the northern marsh dwellers and unified Egypt. But this was maybe a pivotal moment in south/north transition in global history. Also the Hebrews took Canaan from the south; Also the armies of Islam came from south. Lots to consider here lol.
