Hay River RCMP cautions motorists to avoid unnecessary travel on Highway 1 between Enterprise and the Alberta border. Recent rain combined with freezing temperatures have created extremely icy conditions.

More great work by our officers in the North District! Last night, Tulita RCMP acted on a tip from the public which resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of liquor arriving in the community by boat. Have info on bootlegging? Contact police or Crimestoppers.

Behchokǫ̀ RCMP are currently responding to a motor vehicle collision in the area of mile marker 290 on Highway #3. Motorists are advised to be cognizant of emergency responders in the area, reduce speeds and obey traffic all controls.

On July 17th, Special Constable Jordan Groenewegen delivered a presentation on the importance of wearing a PFD to the children of the Summer Heat program in Hay River! A hands-on demonstration proved that the time to don your life jacket is BEFORE you get into a boat!

Last week, officers across the Northwest Territories were fortunate to be able to participate in a host of activities on National Indigenous Peoples Day! Some members even learned how to make a fine moose stew with bannock!

Fort Providence RCMP members recently had an opportunity to attend Treaty Annuity Day in Kakisa. Events like these provide a unique opportunity for police officers to connect with the community!

The police operation in Inuvik has concluded however there may be an increased police presence in the area throughout the morning as the investigation continues.

A police operation is underway in in Inuvik on Bonnetplume Road. RCMP are asking people to avoid the area at this time. This operation is a proactive enforcement action and there is no immediate risk to the public at this time.

Acting on a report from a community member, RCMP officers from Tuktoyaktuk conducted check stops on the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway. These joint efforts to curb bootlegging resulted in a liquor seizure from a vehicle.

The police operation in Yellowknife has concluded however there may be an increased police presence in the area throughout the evening as the investigation continues.

A police operation is underway in in Yellowknife at 45 Street and 49 Avenue. RCMP are asking people to avoid the area at this time. This operation is a proactive enforcement action and there is no immediate risk to the public at this time.
