Pinch hitter Gabriel Moreno lined a double off the wall in right field, a ball that Brett Baty didn't catch but had a chance to.
Then on a grounder to first, Mark Vientos couldn't make an accurate throw to home to get Geraldo Perdomo scoring from third.
With a sacrifice fly for Tim Tawa one batter later, the DBacks now lead 3-1.

Standing ovation at Citi Field for Nolan McLean as he's pulled by Carlos Mendoza w/ one out and two on in the seventh. McLean had eight strikeouts tonight, allowing only three hits with two walks. Filthy stuff throughout. Up to Luke Weaver to strand his two runners here.

Polanco’s health is going to be an ongoing discussion. Lower body issues for a few seasons now. Something they will have to monitor all season #Mets

The Mets are being careful with Jorge Polanco, whose Achilles flared up in the second game of the season. Carlos Mendoza said he's not overly concerned, but that's why Polanco is at designated hitter for the second straight game.

David Stearns sang Carson Benge’s praises all offseason, saying he could factor into the team’s 2026 plans from the jump. That probably would’ve changed if the Mets had signed Kyle Tucker, but they didn’t and Benge is the team’s Opening Day starting right fielder.

My expectation is Carson Benge begins the year in Syracuse. Vientos and Baty need consistent everyday at bats to solidify their roles before the Mets can confidently hand regular playing time over to Benge.
