A man in my area was paying 200k per term for his 2 children's school fees. His wife handled everything school-related. Anytime he offered to visit the school she'd say "don't stress yourself honey, I'll handle it." He thought she was being supportive. One evening he was out with friends and one of his guys was complaining about paying his son's 40k school fees. Their children attended the same school. The man was confused. "40k? You mean for the books?" That's when the truth came out. School fees were 40k per child. His wife had been pocketing 120k every term, plus 40k from textbooks. 160k per term. Quietly. For years. He went home that night and sent her packing. Her family had to beg before he took her back. The painful part? He was already giving her a monthly allowance and had fully stocked a provision store for her. She had everything. She still chose to steal from the same man providing for her. That's not greed. That's a character problem. Above all, love God.

My friend's wife had been adding ₦50,000–₦100,000 on top of their children's school fees every term. The husband never questioned it. He would gladly pay and even cover other school expenses. They have three children and his wife's younger sibling in the house, all in school. Some terms, she allegedly made an extra ₦300,000–₦500,000. This went on for five years. Then last month, she was hospitalized for a few days. The husband took over the school runs. At the school, he was handed receipts for the previous term's fees. He checked the amounts. Then checked what he had actually sent his wife. That was when he realized the difference. For five years, his own wife had been scamming him. Now he says her presence alone is making him angry.

So una don start locking unverified accounts from engaging with posts? 🤔 Una dey try o. At this rate, social media is gradually becoming a VIP club. Today it’s verification, tomorrow na subscription before you fit comment. Not everybody wants to pay for a blue tick just to like, comment, or engage with content. The whole point of social media was for people to connect freely. Anyway, na una platform, una rules. We go adapt. 😄

One of the scariest realisations as an adult: You’re starting to sound like your parents in ways you swore you never would. The same habits, same reactions, same patterns, same emotions. Are you consciously breaking the cycle or repeating it?

My father-in-law told me that whenever we are in his compound, I must serve him food before serving my husband. He said that because he is my husband's father, and since his wife is no longer alive, it is my duty to serve him first. His comment left me confused for days, and I wasn't sure whether I should tell my husband about it or not. Last Easter, we travelled to the village. After about four days, my father-in-law noticed that I was still serving my husband before serving him. I had tried my best to avoid doing it in front of him, but he still noticed. He called me aside and started shouting at me. What surprised me the most was that he has never mentioned this issue to my husband. Now, I don't know whether telling my husband about it will solve the problem or create even more issues. Should I tell my husband, or just let it go?
