Twenty years after their AMAs debut, she walked back onto the same stage tonight in red latex, performing the same songs. The difference is she's no longer Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls. She's a Tony-winning actress who also happens to be in the Pussycat Dolls. Norma Desmond wanted the comeback on her terms or not at all. Scherzinger got both.

@mattypoop @INA_TheatreSnob Which is very possibly the key Carrie is singing it in, at least for She Used To Be Mine. It was written to suit Sara Bareilles, and they took it up for Jessie Mueller when she originated Jenna on Broadway. Sara sings it a semitone lower, and did this when she took over the role.

Seeing complaints about Carrie Hope Fletcher singing Waitress' score in a lower key makes me feel like key options should be mandatory. Wouldn't you rather see someone sing the hell out of a song in a key they're comfortable with than risk long term damage as 'higher is better?'

@INA_TheatreSnob In some cases it works but in others it doesn't. She's great in SUTBM but WBCD really doesn't sound good in the lowered key. Also, if Ashley Roberts gets slandered online for lowering the key to When He Sees Me, then Carrie should be subjected to the same criticism.
