@DPJHodges Can you, for one moment, stop being a Burnham stooge. Al is actually putting out a far more intellectually coherent platform. I hope he runs.

Funny old thing… I still haven’t had any good arguments against this, other than “that’s not how it works”

@MikeTappTweets I'm not a Labour supporter, but think you're fundamentally decent and right, Mike. The public are sick of this high turnover of leaders.

Is it time to legislate; if a change of leader is forced by its own Party then a General Election must be called. That would stop the constant churn and focus all politicians on delivery, instead of work place politics. These endless ‘house of cards’ games would end and the country would benefit. Let’s legislate to focus minds.

@wesstreeting Wes, that's an oxymoron. Wealth taxes DON'T work.

Every child deserves the best start in life, but the next generation face worse prospects than the last. That’s why I’d restore Sure Start - with an extra £1.7bn funded by the wealth tax that actually works - to help close the gap between the richest and poorest backgrounds.
Lizzy Buchan@LizzyBuchan

EXCL: Wes Streeting pledges to bring back Sure Start as he eyes Labour leadership In an in-depth interview, Streeting lifts the lid on Brexit, Reform and what he said to Keir Starmer in their 16-minute showdown mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

Like I said. Reform are still complete amateurs. They messed up initially. But even then they could just have apologised and moved on. But no. They had to run the usual playbook of getting in people’s faces. Nuts.
Andy Burnham@AndyBurnhamGM

@LeeAndersonMP_ You don’t need to argue with me, Lee. You need to listen to Gemma, the person who runs The Hamlet, and then decide whether as a Party you are prepared to do the decent thing.

@darrenpjones Inflation is higher now than when the tories left office. This was also the case before the Iran war.

Inflation is down today, in part thanks to action we've taken on energy bills. But the price of electricity is still set by global gas rates, despite half of our electricity coming from renewables. So we're taking steps to fix that too. Let me explain 👇

On “the Burnham campaign is a shambles!” from some Labour MPs. These are the same people confidently asserting he’d blown it at Labour conference. The reality is that in the first 48 hours he’s successfully framed himself as someone who can speak human, is rooted in the area he wants to represent, and is a an antidote to the Westminster status quo. Which is exactly the framing he needed.

One thing I’ve not heard much of in the debate about who should be Prime Minister of our country is the human being at the centre of this, & his family, & the effect of this on them all. The vitriol is off the scale. Show some humanity. People we disagree with are not enemies

No deal. The Tory Party cannot be trusted. It betrayed the country on immigration, tax cuts, policing, antisemitism, woke and net zero. And, judging by the elections, the British people agree.

Incredibly, Nick Timothy - who is usually the first on the scene on things like this - appears to be “too polite” to comment?
