@RevKimWChafee My touch stone, my guiding principle is Matthew 22: 36-40. Summarizes it all in just two commandments: Love God above all things; love EVERYONE as yourself. Makes it easy to discern if your actions align with the Highest.

It seems that in general, many Christians in the U.S. have become what I like to call, "bumper sticker theologians." That is, eschewing the deeper levels of the calling and teachings of Christ, they settle for living with pithy slogans that tickle the ears. There is no "dying to self," or, "taking up your cross." And especially, there is no, "seeking God with all your heart, and loving your neighbor as yourself." In other words, it is a dangerous theology, a "Christianity," that is bereft of Christ. Matthew 7:14 states: "But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it." May God open our hearts to His Spirit, and our eyes to His path.
