🇳🇦 NAMIBIA: OFFICIAL REASONS FOR @STARLINK LICENSE DENIAL ANNOUNCED The chairperson of the board of the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), Prof. Tulimevava Kaunapawa Mufeti, just announced the reasons for CRAN's rejection of Starlink's application for a spectrum and operating licenses. “The applicant met only three of the six criteria,” Mufeti said, noting that failure to meet even one requirement is sufficient grounds for rejection. Prof. Mufeti, together with the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Emma Theofelus, explained that the lack of Namibian ownership in the American company contributed to this decision. She said Starlink also failed to meet national security criteria and ignored Namibian law by offering a telecommunications service without a license.

There are a lot of fanboys and communities for different stocks and crypto. I’m definitely apart of both. But they exists independently. The community attached to asts is surprisingly sophisticated and savvy. Will that mean the asts is successful? No. We know the risk here. But the potential returns on this company pulling of the master plan beyond exciting.

Some good slides from @thekookreport 300+ slide $ASTS deck 1) SpaceX's September 2024 FCC interference analysis disclosed that its D2D satellites operate at ~340 km (vs. ~500 km for broadband). Lower altitude = more drag = shorter life = higher replacement CAPEX. SpaceX acknowledges this trade-off. 2) The Iridium constellation of the 1990s cost ~$50M per satellite including launch ($3.3B launch cost for 66 sats out of ~$5B total). Today's costs are a fraction — which is why Starlink, ASTS, and Kuiper exist.
