Our refrigerator just died... again. This is our second refrigerator in ten years. It was a Whirlpool, a "plain Jane" model with no bells, no whistles, and no fancy screens. We bought it for its simplicity, thinking it would be the one thing in our house that just worked. It lasted five years and one month, exactly thirty days past the warranty. The repairman’s verdict? A dead compressor. But the real diagnosis... it was Built to Break. Under the guise of "green" regulations and "energy efficiency," we’ve traded tanks that lasted thirty years for plastic-heavy shells that barely last five. We are forced to pay a premium for "high-efficiency" tech that saves ten cents a month on electricity, only to be told to throw the whole $1,500 + unit into a landfill when a single internal component fails. It’s a racket. The government mandates the specs, the manufacturers cut the quality, and the consumer is left holding a bag of spoiled milk. We don’t own appliances anymore; we just lease them from the scrap yard.

@Nutmeg20201 @washghost1 @SpeedQueenHome Was just going to say this! Got a speed queen washer/dryer set a few months ago, and we will NEVER go back. Should have gone this route years ago instead of the “fancy” high efficiency set that was stinky and problematic.

@SpeedQueenHome the commercial dryer's lint trap is a HORRIBLE design! Is not efficient, plastic piece broke within a month and constantly gets lint on my clean clothes!!!! 😖😖😡😡

@SpeedQueenHome Hello, I’ve been waiting on a part to repair a 5 month old broken dryer since before Thanksgiving. The dryer was purchased from Jeff’s Appliances ( Charleston, WV) in June 2025 with a 5 yr parts and labor warranty. Jeff’s was contacted for the repair work.

@Nondual8 @geerlingguy Washer/dryer repair guy once told me he had two washers: a new fancy one for his wife, and an old Speed Queen in the basement for when the new fancy one breaks down.

Here's the wash cycle of my broken Bosch 500 series dishwasher. It's fixed now (pump was making grinding noises and was very weak), but this is like strike 7 for this dumb appliance. Might have to make another video about it sometime.

My two month old @SpeedQueenHome dryer is a piece of crap. Never got clothes fully dry from day one. Two weeks ago the heating element went out. Repair guy said it was a loose wire. Today it stopped heating again. Should’ve returned it from day one. “Legendary reliable” my butt.

@SpeedQueenHome I do sort everything. I just washed a set of sheet by themselves and they are covered by lint. This is a wash and dried shirt…lint is quite visible..he has a port for cancer treatment..it the lint goes in his port..it could kill him. I have been doing laundry 50 years.

After having 2 new clothes washers shit the bed in the past 5 years, I'm forced to buy a Speed Queen. Plain, old school washer without a bunch of useless technology to go bad.
