COVID HOSPITALISATIONS, a thread🧵 In case anyone still believes that changing the Covid testing policy in hospitals back in April hasn’t really affected the hospitalisation data, this chart is just for you. Please take a good look at it. It tells a very interesting story…

@sunsopeningband That someone is wrining on how mast/il-cells communicate systemic an even use fascia as both medium an regulator of activity. (Core fibromyalgia it seems.) Also, how microbiome regulates this activity level in mc. So they need to know this: nature.com/articles/s4200…

Post-COVID-19 Cardiovascular Complications: An Updated Systematic Review 🚨GENERAL WARNING AGAIN! Long COVID is silently wrecking hearts, even after mild cases, years later! And the worst part, this isn't over. #LongCOVID #HeartHealth ➡️This Romanian systematic review synthesizes evidence from 10 high-quality studies (2020–2024) on cardiovascular complications in long COVID, drawing from diverse cohorts (mild to severe cases, including non-hospitalized patients). ➡️IMPORTANT FINDINGS: 1. Long COVID is linked to subclinical myocardial dysfunction, including reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF <50% in ~8% of cases) and impaired global longitudinal strain (GLS abnormalities in ~15%), 2. Increased arterial stiffness (e.g, pulse wave velocity +1.2 m/s, arterial stiffness index +18%) and endothelial injury persist, even in younger, previously healthy individuals, 3. Arrhythmias (new-onset in >8%, fragmented QRS, ECG changes in ~15%) and prothrombotic states are common, 4. New-onset hypertension affects ~32% at 1-year follow-up, associated with acute disease severity, steroid use, and age >60, 5. Elevated cardiac biomarkers (e.g., troponin in 7%) and symptoms like palpitations (10–15%), chest pain (~12–15%), and fatigue/dyspnea occur across severities, 6. Large-scale data show elevated risks vs. post-influenza (e.g, 1.6–2.3-fold higher for arrhythmias, heart failure, thromboembolic events in elderly), 7. Vaccination appears protective to some degree, reducing persistent symptoms and some complications, 8. Mechanisms involve myocardial inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, autonomic imbalance, RAAS dysregulation, and chronic inflammation. ➡️ Long COVID is a heterogeneous entity with substantial cardiovascular implications across all levels of acute disease severity. ➡️ Early detection through longitudinal monitoring, standardized definitions, and multidisciplinary care is essential to reduce long-term cardiovascular risk. ‼️So, AGAIN, Long COVID poses a substantial, underappreciated long-term threat to cardiovascular health, even in mild cases, demanding routine monitoring and intervention to avert future heart disease burdens. ‼️AND for all those still sleeping, my personal reminder: Reinfections aren't harmless, they stack the deck against your heart, turning one hit into compounding long-term cardiovascular threats. #Mitigation #CleanAir #AVOIDREINFECTIONS #AVOIDSARS2 mdpi.com/2673-527X/6/1/4

This new study shows that SARS-CoV-2 can systematically reprogram cellular metabolism to support its own survival. This isn’t just tissue damage. It’s a redirection of the body’s energy systems🧵

ME/CFS is sometimes framed as a body locked in stress mode. The sympathetic nervous system permanently switched on. Fight-or-flight with no way out. It made sense. Almost too much sense🧵

New research shows major damage in the brain stress system of people with very severe ME/CFS. The key finding: a near-loss of the neurons that start the cortisol stress response. This helps explain low cortisol and many symptoms. Let’s break it down in simple language.

What takes years with HIV or CMV, SARS-CoV-2 can partially induce after only a few reinfections - because it targets the same regulatory and metabolic axes of immunity.

New research has identified a potential biological cause for post-COVID fatigue/muscle fatigue. Scientists found that a molecule called soluble IL-2 receptor (sIL-2R), linked to immune activation, may directly harm mitochondria in muscle cells.

Even though Omicron often causes milder illness, it leaves a clear metabolic footprint disrupting liver, immune, and energy metabolism. A new study shows that even 2-4 weeks after recovery, the body does not return to normal metabolic state🧵

Alterations in the serum metabolome in patients with the COVID-19 Omicron variant and in recovered cases 🔥While Omicron variants might seem mild on the surface, they're anything but in the deeper tissues—don't buy the hype! Fascinating Chinese study sheds light on this. ➡️"Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) has become a global public health crisis, and the Omicron variant has rapidly taken over as soon as it was detected Serum circulating metabolites can provide extensive insights into the pathogenesis and diagnosis of many diseases." ➡️"We included 336 omicron variant cases (OC), 216 recovered cases (RC), and 380 healthy controls (HC) for untargeted metabolomics analysis and analyzed their serum metabolic profiles by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry." ➡️"The results showed that compared with HC, five metabolites, including DL-stachydrine, D-(+)-pipecolinic acid, furazolidone, L-arginine and 5α-dihydrotestosterone glucuronide were significantly elevated and one metabolite, prenylcysteine, was significantly decreased in the serum of OC, and that the increase in L-arginine and the decrease in prenylcysteine led to impaired urea cycling(hepatic impairment) and a high risk of developing atherosclerosis, respectively." ⁉️The big Q: how long do these serum circulating metabolites disturbances persist and what with reinfections?👇 ➡️"Study also showed that although the COVID-19 nucleic acid tests of the recovered cases had been negativing twice consecutively, meeting the guideline criteria for discharge, many of their circulating metabolites had not returned to normal levels. ➡️"In addition, we developed a non-invasive diagnostic model for Omicron variant patients based on a large clinical cohort for the first time, which had a diagnostic efficacy of 99.7% in the validation cohort." As some of us have been telling you, Omicron, Sarscov2….there’s nothing mild about it, certainly not in the long run and with the growing reinfection numbers. LongC0vid is one, but wait for the ultra-L0ngC0Vid, and the colleagues needing to connect the dots! journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…
