@unusual_whales He's right. A state cannot protect itself against a foreign power. States should take care of local issues. He's not saying child care is not important. He's saying that it's a local issue. The states should be better able to know the local needs.

Massie is a massive masshole! Thomas Massie in responsible for the massive law suit that the Epstein victims just filed against the DOJ. The victims are going to win and the American tax payers are going to have to foot the bill because if this pea brained two bit hack! The 30-day deadline that Masshole gave the DOJ was not realistically enough time for a thorough, proper review and redaction of the Epstein files. The Department of Justice (DOJ) itself identified over 6 million potentially responsive pages (plus thousands of videos, images, emails, and other materials spanning 20+ years of investigations). Even with more than 500 attorneys and reviewers assigned, the process involved manual collection from multiple offices and agencies, iterative searches, legal reviews for privileges, court-ordered victim protections and careful redaction of victim-identifying information. Massie knew this but pushed the legislation anyway. How much you want to bet he gets some political donations from the victims tax payer funded pay outs?

Thomas Massie says there are only about 30 good Republicans in the House, and the rest are either evil or just NPCs. “There are about 30 folks like that… 30 good people out of a Republican conference in the House that has 220.” “They wake up every day and they want to do the right thing, even if it would cost them their election.” “Then there’s 30 bad folks… they are evil… they will do the wrong thing even if the right thing would get them more votes.” “That leaves 160 members of Congress who are all running the same program.” “They’re like NPCs. They will follow whichever set of leadership prevails.” @RepThomasMassie @ComicDaveSmith

Driving them to the brink of bankruptcy and then repeatedly bailing them out with government welfare isn’t helping them. But as long as they continue to vote for these people I guess we can assume they prefer a life of government dependence to survive.

“If we don’t deal with the Israelis, then this thing will just keep going. Unless we restrain them and tell them you’re done going on the offense, and if you continue to conduct strikes without running them by us, then we’re going to start taking away parts of your defense system. That’s the only way to restrain them in my opinion. We can’t just ask nicely anymore because every time we do, they say okay and then continue striking anyway. We are doing the heavy lifting in this war while also funding their defense. The only way out of this is to restrain the Israelis and force a shift toward diplomacy.” @joekent16jan19

Senator Rand Paul researched and found that everything Bernie Sanders and AOC have been saying about their views for socialism have been an outright lie This is very important information “Democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders often point to Scandinavia is the model for what the U.S should become — When (Bernie Sanders and AOC) talk about democratic socialism, (Bernie Sanders says) ‘I'm not looking at Venezuela, I'm not looking at Cuba. I'm looking at countries like Denmark and Sweden’” But that’s just not true Rand Paul “We learned that actually Bernie is too much of a socialist for Scandinavia, that he probably could not get elected in any of the Scandinavian countries — When he started talking about Denmark being socialist, the prime minister of Denmark came out publicly and said, Bernie, quit it. You're, you're bad for business. We are not socialist. And if the rest of the world thinks Denmark's socialist, they won't come here and invest money. Denmark is far from socialist planned economy.” Not only is Denmark not socialist, but the other countries Democrats point to as examples are very wrongly depicted “We found that basically it's not true that the Scandinavian countries are socialist. Basically they have private property, private stock exchange when different freedom or economic indexes are listed. They're in the top 10 of the most free countries. Now, they do have a big welfare state, but we also learned that what Bernie promises and what AOC promises in our country is untrue. They say, we're gonna have a lot of free stuff that a socialist state gives you, but only the rich people are gonna pay for it. Only the top 1%. Turns out when you look at Scandinavia, everybody pays for it. - Particularly starting at the working class, paying a 25% sales tax - Then an income tax of 60% starting at 60,000 - And really the rich in our country pay a lot more. — The rich pay a lot more in our country than they actually do in Scandinavia. So his whole stick it to the rich, you know, thing that he's promoting isn't true in Scandinavia. He says, in our country, the corporate income taxes, the evil corporations aren't paying enough. Well, guess what? In Scandinavia, there have been 15 points below our corporate rates for 2 decades” Meaning, it’s the working class who would ultimately pay insane taxes for Democrat’s plan for socialism “It's sad that people still think Scandinavian countries are socialists.“

The company offered 10x market rate and gave farmers 5 days to respond. That tells you everything about who actually has leverage in this deal. When a Fortune 100 company requires NDAs before revealing its own name, pressures a response in under a week, and offers $48,000 per acre for $6,000 land, they’re not being generous. They’re telling you the land is worth more than $48,000 to them and they need you to say yes before you figure out why. Public records filled in the gap the NDAs were designed to hide. The company filed for a 2.2 gigawatt power load from the local coal plant. That’s nearly double the plant’s entire annual generation capacity. You don’t file for 2.2 gigawatts on a speculative site. That filing means engineering, permitting, and capital allocation are already committed. Which means walking away from this specific location has a cost measured in months of delay and hundreds of millions in sunk planning. The farmer has one asset the company can’t replace: this exact parcel, in this exact grid position, near this exact power plant. There is no “find another site” when your electrical infrastructure filing is already locked to a geography. This is why at least seven families on the same road all said no independently. The 82-year-old mother rejected $33 million. The daughter rejected $26 million. Tim Grosser rejected $10 million. A Pennsylvania farmer rejected $15.7 million and sold his development rights for under $2 million to a farmland trust, permanently removing the land from any future offer. The internet is framing this as sentiment vs. economics. Farmers choosing “heritage” over “generational wealth.” The 5-day pressure timeline, the NDAs, and the 2.2 gigawatt filing exposed the real dynamic: the company needs the land more than the farmers need the money. Every month of delay costs the developer more than the premium they offered. $26 million was the lowball. The farmers just didn’t flinch.

"As long as I'm on this land, as long as it's feeding me, as long as it's taking care of me, there's nothing that can destroy me if I've got this land." Video: Local 12 WKRC

@CollinRugg Turning down $26 million because ‘land feeds me’ while owning a tiny farm is peak boomer cope. Sell it, buy better land or invest it, and actually provide for your family long-term. This ‘muh land’ romanticism is why some people stay broke forever.
