@andrewhoyer I would ask to get access to the mailbox/teams/slack of the person supervising my position or to get lost.
If they're comfortable digging through my personal stuff, they shouldn't worry about me checking how they conduct themselves at work.
English

@dannypostma @girdley I've been managing a team for the past 5-6 years. Here is the best tip I have for you:
"Assume your employees are there to do their best until proven otherwise. Any issues that arise are most likely from miscommunication and not malicious intent."
English

I like building new products.
My plan has always been to create a portfolio of companies.
The issue. All products will die when not giving enough attention.
So, the plan is a downward spiral.
The solution: build a team that can grow the product.
I know how to build. I know how to grow.
I don’t know how to manage.
So, the next step of my journey is to learn that.
To build a team. To create a company that can handle itself, even if I’m not there.
Excited to learn something new again!
English

@andrewhoyer I did! They are among my favorite races from the whole expansion set.

@arsawatt @dvassallo Early users will tell you that people are willing to pay for your solution. It's the most valuable validation you can get.
Done/released is better than perfect. You can tweak, fix, and add tests later.
But not at launch. At first, go fast, get feedback, and accept imperfection.
English

Things you absolutely don’t need to launch:
- an LLC
- tax compliance
- VAT handling
- a merchant of record
- terms and conditions
- a privacy policy
- a copyright notice
- a logo
- a trademark
- a favicon
- unit tests
- commit messages
- code reviews
- code comments
- a deployment system
- continuous integration
- docker
- a web framework
- monitoring
- pager duty
- reset password
- dark mode
- a nosql database
- serverless functions
- cloudflare
- a load balancer
- a twitter handle
- multiple pricing plans
- purchasing power parity
- a blog
- a roadmap
- animations
- a changelog
- venture capital
- an affiliate program
- a system status page
Things you absolutely need to launch:
- some way to bring attention to your product

@JudoHacker The inly 2 that are worth checking are vim and neovim.
Vim:
marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName…
Neovim:
marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName…
Vim being easier to setup and good enough for most use cases.
English

@andrewhoyer Where would they link to? It's a title. The content should be below them, not on another page.
English

@davidfowl Python.
My main language (at work) was C# for a long time. Python was a favorite of mine for personal projects.
I switched to Python professionally, maybe 3-4 years ago.
English

@WebPatate @themorrisgrand This is definitely a problem. However, a big part of my process is having multiple backups, and regular ongoing maintenance. I don't accept clients who want to build a site and then forget about it.
English

@andrewhoyer @themorrisgrand And with outdated/vulnerable plugins, others will do blockchain for you!!
English

@themorrisgrand With plugins and some custom coding ability, pretty much anything can be done.
English

@dvassallo How about you charge $200 upfront for LTD since your customers don't know, on average, they'll stay only 18 months?
English

@RoxCodes Does it move you in the direction you want to go? And are you happy with the progress you're making this way?
English

@RoxCodes Yes, but how do you decide what to work on?
I'm not talking about a huge, 5-year plan or anything crazy like that, but could you find 1 big, important thing per day and prioritize that?
English

@yongfook I've been on both ends of interviews using this tech and I have to say they suck for both sides.
Most people aren't natural on video. It makes for boring/awkward watching sessions.
As a candidate this was also pretty shitty.
English

Just learned about hireflix.com wow, one of those “why didn’t I think of this” ideas. You prerecord interview questions and candidates record video answers in their own time.
Async interviews, this would have saved me so much time when hiring!

English

@mistermeenr What about a chatGPT connected air fryer so it chooses a cooking time that makes sense instead of me burning everything every single time?
English

@scrumtuous @MemoSparkfield @kevsmac @PythonWithRune @driscollis @ADutchEngineer @LizRoweYT I can live with that. Do you think they can?
English

@WebPatate @MemoSparkfield @kevsmac @PythonWithRune @driscollis @ADutchEngineer @LizRoweYT Would be more traumatizing tho.
English

@scrumtuous @MemoSparkfield @kevsmac @PythonWithRune @driscollis @ADutchEngineer @LizRoweYT I guess in order of importance would make the most sense...
English

@WebPatate @MemoSparkfield @kevsmac @PythonWithRune @driscollis @ADutchEngineer @LizRoweYT Alphabetically, chronologically or in order of importance?
English

@scrumtuous @MemoSparkfield @kevsmac @PythonWithRune @driscollis @ADutchEngineer @LizRoweYT What have they done to you?
English

@MemoSparkfield As I've said before, I don't dislike Python. 🐍
I just dislike the people who program in Python.🤷♀️
Python programmers like:
✅@kevsmac
✅@PythonWithRune
✅@driscollis
✅@ADutchEngineer
✅@LizRoweYT
I highly recommend you unfollow them all! ❤️❤️❤️

English

@Fudmottin @scrumtuous @techstoa @PythonWithRune Just looked at what Java streams are.
They just copied IEnumerables/Linq from .Net (which had them since .Net 3.5 (released in 2002)
Oh, and it just took Java 12 years to add them, not bad.
English

@scrumtuous @WebPatate @techstoa @PythonWithRune I don't think Python comprehensions are what you think they are. I may be way off base though. It's a concept that was invented for Lisp, IIRC.
