Hope you're having a great day! 😇

People sort of act like they live in a fairytale in which there’s a group of privileged land owners and then on the other hand the peasants who have been locked out. But in our country what happens is we buy land with money. You aren’t granted the privilege to use it. You buy it with money, like everything else. And the title transfers. You can save up some money and go buy some land yourself. High housing prices, notwithstanding, very large shares of the country are still homeowners. It’s not like this is an extreme minority group.

@xwanyex Your reply is completely nonsensical. After you buy the land, what makes it “yours” is the ability to exclude others from it, which is a service that the state provides to you in a variety of ways.

I get that Yudkowsky formally condemns the attack on Sam Altman's home and that his book formally condemns acts of vigilantism. But I also think that if you were to take seriously the central thesis of his book - that AI execs are essentially working to bring about the extinction of humanity - it's not exactly a short leap to go from accepting that thesis to then acting out extra-legal violence

Here’s a serious question for the AI doomers: do you have exit criteria? Is there a predetermined stage of development or capabilities where, having not destroyed humanity, you’re willing to say it was a false alarm? Or is it an eschatological religious belief and unfalsifiable?
