DOCCS honors the memory of the 43 colleagues who have died in the line of duty since 1861. Today, on March 5, 1930, Auburn Principal Keeper Edward B. Beckwith was in the mess hall when he was suddenly attacked and stabbed seven times by an incarcerated individual.
