@nerd_cookies Read Project Hail Mary last year & really enjoyed it. Yes, some jokes felt grating in their 2020meme-ness and may age poorly... but to dismiss the whole book on that basis is simply pointless and reductive. Most SF books care nothing about prose - at least Weir is having fun.

Some people seem to loathe Project Hail Mary because the author’s humor and casual, enthusiastic voice feel too simple and populist for their elevated tastes. That probably cements my status as a simpleton, because I adore it. The science is accessible and exciting, the problem-solving is a blast, and the story is so warm and uplifting that I can see why fans of dark and gritty sci-fi might cringe. That’s fine. There's plenty of fiction perfectly suited for deep thinkers who prefer nihilism and edginess. I’m just thrilled that such heartwarming stories of friendship and courage exist for people with Winnie-the-Pooh brains like me. ❤️

If you grind competitive games with toxic communities & develop your dopamine addiction to feeling superior to others, you re more likely to become a prick than, say, occasional sports players.

@nuhre_ I disagree, the game forcing me to have horns if evil, be old if I'm a wizard etc felt frustrating to me. I'd rather it be a choice, or more subdued like in Fable 2. Reputation shouldnt be fully region locked tho. Maybe just reduced between neighbouring areas.

@Zwarno @ManyATrueNerd it is a slightly toned down skin from the comics. same as the skin for Reed. its very much an appeasement to the comic fans that recognise all these alt looks for characters

I also hate the Moon Knight lunar general skin, because it doesn't look like Moon Knight anymore, and a skin that could confuse an opponent into not knowing who they're fighting should not be in the game - characters being identifiable instantly should come first.

you make fan-art for the culture novels. you read them right? the books try to portray a utopia where AIs rule civilization and are better than us at everything. how do you feel about it though? personally, i'd like to find some way to interweave us with technology so that it can uplift us instead of leaving us behind
