@a017444 @ShamashAran There is nothing wrong in creating crash log record files. You need more concrete evidence, such as which kind of unnecessary PII is included in journald log files.

Has anyone yelling and screaming about Systemd and age verification actually looked at the PR? I'm guessing not. The thing you really want to watch is xdg-desktop-portal, where the age verification will actually take place.

@a017444 @ShamashAran When one sends a crash report to Ubuntu/Canonical, what PII included is NOT decided by systemd-journald. So I disagree with your conclusion here. Your finger should point to whoopsie/apport. They are in-house product of Canonical.

@a017444 @ShamashAran This triggers me to search the actual scope of this systemd date of birth thing: - The DofB field is added to systemd-userdbd - systemd-userdbd is used by systemd-homed, and new versions of GDM, the login manager of GNOME - systemd doesn't depend on systemd-userdbd (for now)

The problem with the reviews from both are that they tell me I need a central character, and that it's all narration etc - but that's the whole point - so I had to clarify this with claude and then it gave me good advice on where I fell short and I don't disagree.

I wrote a "short story" a while back... maybe a couple years ago now. It's not good. The premise is there, but my writing style is lacking. I used Gemini and Clause to review it and tell me what I'm doing wrong. They reviewed it critically and gave me tips on how to improve.

Ubuntu is one of, if not THE worst Linux system you could choose to use if you value privacy and security. Canonical is no better than Microsoft.

As the systemd political theater debate rages, people are forking systemd to get around storing their birthdate... but canonical has been building a database on users via crash reports with pii for over a decade and handing it over to law enforcement whenever it is requested.

@ShamashAran Just to really drive the point home here, read this. Stop using Ubuntu, period. They're as bad as Microsoft. Possibly worse as they are wolves in sheep's clothing. It's not an OS you should be using.

Age Assurance allows companies to pick and choose whatever method of Age Assurance they'd like, some are as simple as clicking your Date of Birth from a drop down menu.

There is nothing about Age Verification in the White House National Policy Framework. Jon is lying and projecting his own views as usual. The WH National Policy Framework very explicitly says Age Assurance, not Age Verification.
