Then they put her in a position where it is ever harder to backtrack, having been seen by millions taking a forthright stance. Then it turns out that she won’t be euthanised because of her pain but because of her depression ; this is a new landmark. Furthermore it emerges she has never been treated for depression. So in one sleight of hand, the criterion for euthanasia has shifted from saving unnecessary pain to taking someone’s word for it that they are depressed.
