@cryp_be @ReelRhoades @BB_Luffyxx Yeah, but other necessary items only get like 10 minutes of use in their respective dungeon before they collect dust in your inventory, so how would they be better? Their moment of necessity isn’t particularly long and they have less utility outside of it compared to the runes.

@Paragraph212 @ReelRhoades @BB_Luffyxx Hard disagree. I love running into an unbeatable obstacle, wondering what I might need to overcome it then returning later with the right item. It’s immensely satisfying. Backtracking should be fun in a well designed game.

@cryp_be @ReelRhoades @BB_Luffyxx I like the Metroidvania aspect when it’s contained within the dungeons, but I think it neuters overworld exploration, since those are designed to lure you towards interesting things in the horizon most of the time. Running into item gates and having to backtrack isn’t very fun.

Honestly, and I know I'll get hate for this, this is one of the reasons I hate zoomer 'nostalgia' for retro shit they never experienced. Analog sucks, it wasn't fun having to untangle a web of black spaghetti to get to your controller. No, Minecraft looks ugly, those 'low poly' graphics were from a very ugly transition stage, and we used to wish they looked better, it wasn't 'charming'. No, having to dedicate a whole shelf to discs and carts sucked, and I'm glad everything can fit into a flash card without me having to get off the couch and swap games.

A big part of what I love about pre-Wild Zelda was the Metroidvania aspect. Learning how to use a new item in a dungeon then using it in the world to unlock new areas/activities/secrets.

Necessity without versatile utility just turns items into glorified keys rather than functional tools. I get a lot more use out of optional arrow types than something like the golden gauntlets you need for 1 rock

Zelda BOTW llegó 2 años después de The Witcher 3 un juego que se le consideraba, junto a Skyrim, el mundo abierto definitivo.
Fue salir dia 1 y ese trono se lo extirpo en segundos. Destruyó el concepto de; Ve a este punto X que te marco en el mapa, ve a esa zona , ... Sigue 2000000 misiones secundarias que te pongo desde el minuto 1... Retumbo tantos las bases que cualquier mundo abierto que no fuera minimanete parecido a Zelda BOTW era basicamente UBISOFT GAME.
Se libre. Explora TU el mapa. Ves dónde te digan tus sentidos ya me preocuparé yo de recompensarte... Y lo hacía.
Zelda BOTW tenía por delante 25 años de juegos en 3D para poder superar. 25 santos años. Perfeccionando, mejorando... Y llegó e hizo 5 saltos por delante.
Claro qué es uno de los mejores Zelda de la puta historia. Dejad de ser tan edgys por dios con el temita de desprestigiar lo nuevo y adorar lo viejo ( ocarina of time no lo estoy criticando ). Da muchísimo cringe

I have lost all interest in modern Legend of Zelda. It's obvious from the teaser and what Aonuma has previously said that Ocarina of Time is going to be a reimagining that follows the new 'non linear' BOTW gameplay formula. If that's the case, the series is dead to me. I'm done.

Is there an arrow type that’s needed in order to complete the game? Pretty sure you can beat it having never picked up a bow. Further, is there a single item that’s necessary to complete it?

@cryp_be @ReelRhoades @BB_Luffyxx So just comparing the bows, OoT has less arrow types that are also less dynamic, you don’t have triple shot bows, you aren’t capable of performing headshots, you can’t use it in midair and you can’t use the sound of an arrow to distract enemies.

Twilight Princess wasn't chasing photorealism. It had a distinct art direction with exaggerated proportions, painterly textures, and a deliberately dark fantasy aesthetic. People act like "stylized" and "realistic" are opposites, but TP's visuals are memorable precisely because they look like a crafted fantasy world, not generic Unreal Engine tech-demo slop
