Some final thoughts for a disappointing night.
This wonderful football club of ours has been a constant in my life for over 50 years. I’ve had the privilege of going to Anfield many hundreds of times. When I’m there, there is nowhere on this planet I’d rather be. It’s my church, and being part of this club is my religion. I’ve had times of sheer ecstasy, and some real lows (such as Heysel..)
The bond I have with the club is also part of the bond with my boys.
There are many on here who are probably fairly new to supporting the club, and they are most welcome. But they would have you believe that these are the worst of times, and that the manager and players are deserving of all sorts of abuse. This is partly due to the incredible success of recent years, and the high expectations this success brings. These are GOOD times; we’re league champions for god’s sake!
Is this temporary loss of form? Let’s be totally honest- we all LOVED the summer’s transfer window. It’s not quite worked out as planned, sure, and I really hope this isn’t the end of a winning cycle. If you’re supporting this club, and being part of this amazing family for the long haul, then support the players in red, and support the manager whilst he’s still in charge . That’s the bare minimum . Otherwise you can’t have the privilege of being part of this incredible family.
I’ll be at Anfield on Wednesday singing my heart out. I’m looking forward to it already.
Remember, #YNWA is not simply a song..
