As an autistic person, Way too many people in this fandom treat Shane as if he’s a diagnosed, high support needs autistic child instead of what he actually is: a very low support needs autistic adult who’s not only undiagnosed, but has absolutely no clue he’s autistic.

the thing about tlg is neither of them are 'in the wrong'. ilya is not wrong for wanting to go public (the distance/ hiding is taking a toll on his mental health) and shane isnt wrong to delay (his team and the league are awful about it). thats...what makes the book interesting.

the fact that in the book when shane said he was mad at marlow for fucking their night up ilya actually laughed but in the show he couldnt even bring himself to joke along with shane because he was genuinely scared & worried about him. im gonna kill myself
