@halvards @jonjonsonjr I want the manifest as an artifact. My goal is release artifacts. A bennie would be dev workflows. Jib plus effort would get me there, so I might end up making a cli wrapper like ko for jib for k8s

my kingdom for a ko like experience with jib. I want `jo apply -f ./manifest.yaml` for java+jib using ko-like conversions. What do you have for me @jonjonsonjr

I love that folks are recognizing this problem, but honestly I think controllers (of all kinds) are the wrong place to solve this. 🧵

@_ediri @ahmetb @mattomata @HelmPack @sabre1041 Not necessarily. The output of `helm template` would be the input of github.com/google/k8s-dig…. kpt and kustomize can orchestrate this (using catalog.kpt.dev/render-helm-ch…), but you can also run the two commands in a script.

@ahmetb @mattomata Still not sure about the whole KRM functions. Will I need kpt to render @HelmPack charts to use KRM fn @sabre1041?

@mattomata But I agree that controllers aren’t the most ideal place to solve this. In an ideal world, it’d be part of hydration process like kpt/kustomize, like github.com/google/k8s-dig…

@mattomata @jonjonsonjr Then the admission webhook is the safety net that handles sidecar containers injected by other webhooks.

@mattomata @jonjonsonjr And it's a KRM function, so it works with kpt (kpt fn eval ...) and kustomize (kustomize fn run ...).

Today, we're open sourcing a log4j JAR scanner. Throw it at a filesystem, detect vulnerable JARs, and even rewrite them in place. Includes a Go API to import the JAR parsing for other applications. github.com/google/log4jsc…

Aa far as I know, google/ko is undervalued or not well-known. This is pretty much useful tool for Go developers. Especially, in combination with Cloud Run, this is pretty neat! github.com/google/ko
