@idyllicmusing It is scientifically proven that a small amount of iron leached into food cooked with cast iron (varies based on food type - tomatoey and citric dishes gain more than others). This iron is safe and digestible. Some people use an iron fish in pasta water for the same benefit.

@suz_chef Why do you think the cast iron helps with anemia? (Not being sarcastic)

@idyllicmusing Cast iron all the way! I have a history of anemia and since I started using my cast iron skillets and dutch oven regularly, my numbers have improved. Takes some adjusting to (holds heat like no one's business, specific cleaning rituals) but so worth it once you're dialed in.

@CDES_SEDC I am following Mark Hyman! I found him on wellness with Arielle. Yes, and I think that they’re not as disgusting as it sounds because some types are just in pill form and you just swallow a pill and that’s the fecal transfer.

@idyllicmusing You need a fecal transfer too! Theres a really good episode of Mark Hymans podcast talking about it. The guest is promoting an infant probiotic but she has good info.

Today I learned that when a baby is born via C-section, they miss out on that initial dose of Lactobacillus from the birth canal, which is basically like a starter kit for their immune system. Typically, babies born through C-section have a slightly higher correlation with asthma, allergies, and Type 1 diabetes. Apparently, some practitioners have begun to explore "swabbing" C-section newborns with the mother’s vaginal fluids, a process called "vaginal seeding." Has anyone heard of this?

@idyllicmusing No, but I'm a fan of hers 😂 we just both happen to love birth and have similar names.

@idyllicmusing Yes. It's a growing area of study, and it's something I inform my section clients about.
