Yesterday’s results will prove to be a pyrrhic victory for Democrats in Virginia. The raw anger is palpable and now Abigail Spanberger, Don Scott, Louise Lucas, and the rest of the Richmond Democrats will own this. Governor Spanberger lied to voters and they won’t easily forget that. Now every insane leftist bill/vote by the radicals that will emerge from these districts will be because of her deceit. The Democrats may believe they silenced millions of conservative voices yesterday, but they did not. A conservative comeback is building to rectify this deceit and unconstitutional power grab.

As Ron Desantis pointed out yesterday, the ‘republican’ on California’s ‘independent’ commission is from Berkeley 🙄 Any commission orchestrated by a government will be left-leaning, so that’s why they keep pushing it. Virginia was one of the most balanced states in the Union. Democrats have manipulated people into thinking this power grab was to “balance out” what Texas is doing, when in reality California has already balanced that out with Prop 50. This wasn’t to “balance something out”. It was to grab as much power as possible.

I hate gerrymandering, but the question is: If GOP states brazenly do it mid-decade, is the proper blue-state response "two wrongs don't make a right" or "level the playing field to neutralize its national impacts." Ultimately, I voted "yes" based on the latter. Paradoxically, I consider this the best way to ultimately discourage mid-decade gerrymanders because it prevents the instigators from being rewarded with much more net House seats. And I believe this cross-state backlash will discourage this mid-decade gambit from being repeated in the future. Ultimately, a national ban on gerrymandering is central to fixing Congress. But passively letting one side gerrymander and be rewarded for it would move us further away from that point. Conservatives should recognize this "peace through strength" principle: The best way to discourage war is not to unilaterally disarm, but rather to build a strong enough military to discourage the other side from launching the next war.

Just so you get the truth and not the partisan spin here, Republicans came up with the idea of the mid-decade redistricting fight and started in Texas. Then, in Virginia, the RNC spent $0.00 to fight. Now, as drawn, the Democrats have an advantage from the redistricting fight.
